What A Colorful Creature .... C. Aguilera.
Christina Aguilera's 'Lotus' was made with "blood, sweat and tears".
The singer spent a great deal of time making her seventh album, and after the relative commercial failure of her last record, 2010's 'Bionic', felt she had something to prove.
She told MTV: "As in every record, it's my heart. It's a labour of love. It's not just songs to me; these are blood, sweat and tears and stuff from the heart."
The 31-year-old singer also hopes the album sounds futuristic enough connect with the stars of tomorrow.
She added: "You'll hear on this record that I've written songs for the next generation to hopefully inspire new singers of raw talent and realness. I definitely wanted to have fun and make 'Lotus' about freedom."
Christina added one of the tracks she has previewed from the album, 'Army of Me', is a sequel to her 2003 empowerment anthem, 'Fighter'.
She said: "This song is a really fun uptempo, and I wanted to do sort of a 'Fighter 2.0' inspirational uptempo for the younger generation, because I felt they should have it.
"All these six-year-olds who weren't around for the actual 'Fighter,' this is my chance to recharge it, rejuvenate it and do something modernized for them."
Christina Aguilera blasts Simon Cowell
Christina Aguilera called Simon Cowell a "d**k".
The singer is currently a mentor on 'The Voice' and admitted she doesn't watch rival reality TV shows such as Simon's 'The X Factor' and 'American Idol' which he previously appeared on but once saw a clip of him on the latter and thought he was needlessly mean to the contestants.
Speaking at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Music Conference, she said: "I've not actually seen a full episode of any of the other music shows. I saw the commercials early on of 'American Idol' of Simon being a d**k. I was like, 'Man, that's not what it's about!' I didn't want to treat people like that. I wanted to do 'The Voice' to show that we can be positive. We don't have to knock people down."
Christina also claimed she has to be tough to survive in the music business because people will try to walk all over her.
She explained: "It's hard being such a powerful woman in the business. I'm known for not always being warm and fuzzy, because you'll just get bulldozed over. You learn to put up this little protective shield, but it's because of something. In my music, I come off as being very open about being insecure, vulnerable and sensitive sometimes. Then I'll go onstage and be this powerhouse force to be reckoned with."
Adam Levine loves underwear
Adam Levine loves wearing underwear.
The Maroon 5 front man can't believe his fellow judge on 'The Voice', Christina Aguilera, likes to go commando and has praised the benefits of pants to keep "everything in check" down below.
Adam joked: "It's so funny because I love to wear underwear. I'm not kidding. It keeps everything in check, you know? Like, I think it's nice to know everything is set. [With] no underwear ... I don't know what could happen!
"I don't want things flopping around. I don't know if that's the same for women, it's a little simpler down there for you guys. I just need a buffer zone between my junk and the outside world."
The 'Payphone' singer is keen to keep his seat on the judging panel of 'The Voice' as long as possible, despite Christina and Cee Lo Green both taking a year off to work on their own music careers.
He said: "There's a chance that someone could replace me and be better than me and then, I'd be fired. I'm not going anywhere!"
With new A-list judges Usher and Shakira keen to step into their shoes, Adam worries the panel is easily expendable.
He told Access Hollywood: "Who knows what's going to happen. They're always welcome back. But that's what THEY [the producers] say!"
Christina Aguilera offered curvy new deal
Christina Aguilera has been offered millions to be the face of a dating website.
The 'Your Body' singer - who recently hit back at critics of her curvier figure and said she wants to "empower" other women by showing she is proud of her body - has reportedly been offered $3 million to be the new spokesperson for a dating site for "big and beautiful" women.
A source told gossip website TMZ that the 31-year-old has been approached by former 'America's Next Top Model' winner Whitney Thompson who runs TheBigandTheBeautiful.com.
Whitney - who was the first plus-sized model to win the reality competition - sent a letter offering Christina the huge sum to be affiliated with the website, which is "specifically designed for women with curves."
The deal would reportedly involve photo-shoots, public appearances as well as TV and radio advertisements that would feature Christina singing.
'The Voice' judge - who is dating long-term boyfriend Matthew Rutler and appears naked on the cover of her soon to be released new album 'Lotus' - received the offer because she recently claimed she has no problem ignoring her critics and she is very comfortable in her own skin.
She said: "I've always been one to make it very clear, love me or hate me, take it or leave it, this is who I am.
"I embrace my body, and I embrace everything about myself. Coming full circle is a celebration of freedom and happiness because that's what [my new album] 'Lotus' is representing. I'm embracing everything that I've grown to be and learned to be."

The singer appears naked on the cover of her new album - set to be released on November 13 - because she didn't want to make a fashion statement.
She said: "It's very interesting, because I don't see that album cover as being nude at all.
"I actually feel very covered and it's all about embracing white light and freedom, and I didn't want it to be about too much fashion. I wanted it to be raw, real and free and a celebration of life and the woman I've become."
