Troubled actress Mischa Barton has made her first public appearance since she was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month. The former The O.C. star was placed under the care of doctors at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after reportedly suffering a meltdown and calling cops to her Hollywood home.
She was released over the weekend after a week of treatment, with her representative insisting the 23-year-old is preparing to get back to work. And now the star has proved she is ready to move on from the incident. Barton was pictured looking happy and healthy as she arrived at New York's JFK airport with her dog Ziggy, where she is due to begin filming her new TV show The Beautiful Life.
Shooting on the program, created by Ashton Kutcher, was initially reported to have been delayed by Barton's hospitalization, but bosses at The CW network insisted the hold-up was the result of unfinished sets. Barton, 23, is set to play Sonja Stone, a catwalk beauty addicted to pills, on new show, which is tentatively scheduled to start filming on July 31.

UPDATE: Barton's rep has slammed the drug claims, telling OK! magazine the reports are "completely preposterous".Mischa Barton's recent breakdown came after a three-day cocaine binge, according to reports.
On Thursday July 16th, the 23-year-old was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold after reportedly suffering a meltdown and calling cops to her Los Angeles home the day before.
According to New York Post gossip column PageSix, friends of the former The O.C. star alerted police amid fears she would kill herself after three days of hard partying.
A pal tells the publication, "She's in very bad shape. She's running out of money and can't find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral. She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess."
Los Angeles police and Barton's representative have confirmed the actress required assistance for "a medical issue", but have yet to reveal further details. (WENN/CL/WNWCPS/ZN)
I didn't expect Mischa to switch over to coke hardcore like that. I guess smoking weed wasn't enough to solve her problems. She can't find love? If she drops the partying and does the right thing for a while the money will come with it. Stop buying cocaine! Something wasn't right from a few weeks ago and now we see why. She's really depressed - needs love. Barton has to stop and face reality.
