  • Peaches: No Drug Overdose Just a Bad Experience
  • Peaches Geldof has admitted having "a bad experience" with drugs but denied reports she overdosed.

The 19-year-old DJ - who received help from paramedics after collapsing at her London apartment last month - has experimented with drugs, but insists she will never become an addict.

She said: "It wasn't an overdose. I had a bad experience - it was nowhere near an overdose. It was blown completely out of proportion. I never overdosed.

"Drugs for me are something I don't normally meddle in. I have tried drugs in my life, I'm not going to deny it but I don't need to go to rehab because I never, and will never, have any sort of habit with drugs."

Peaches also said she was no different from many London teenagers, claiming most young people in the city experiment with illegal substances at some point.

She added to The Sunday Times Style magazine: "It's something that everyone - well, not everyone, smart people usually don't do it, but it's something that people go through in their lives, especially growing up in London, and it's not something I've ever had a problem with.

"I'm not friends with Any Winehouse, I don't live in Camden. I've never smoked crack in my life. I've done other drugs, I've had experiences with drugs - some good, some bad - and it's not something I want to pursue."

  • Madonna Twists Her Ankle - 50th B-day On Hold
  • Madonna has been forced to postpone her 50th birthday celebrations after twisting her ankle.

The '4 Minutes' singer - who reaches the milestone age on Saturday (08/16/08) - was set to throw a lavish party at her country estate in Wiltshire, England, but has now postponed the festivities after suffering an injury during rehearsals for her forthcoming world tour.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Plans are very hush-hush but Madonna is definitely going to celebrate in style.

"Unfortunately, not everything has gone as expected as she's had many other things on her mind - not least rehearsals for her 'Sticky and Sweet' tour. On top of all the stress, she twisted her ankle over the weekend.

"She views this as a sign she should postpone the birthday bash and play it by ear instead.

"Madonna now thinks it will go ahead during a three-day break in the tour towards the end of the month."

Among the guests invited to the party - which the singer's husband, director Guy Ritchie has helped plan - were officials involved with the couple's adoption of Malawian David Banda.

    image

The source added: "Guy wants the party to be traditional and British. He has already ordered crate loads of real ale. He's also arranged for a folk band to play and the people invited - Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney and Trudie Styler - are basically friends Madonna's known for years.

"Everyone else will be immediate friends and family, plus a few people from Malawi that Madonna will be flying out. A few of her Kabbalah associates are also expected and Madonna will make sure only Kabbalah water will be served."

  • R.I.P Isaac Hayes - Goodbye Chef
  • Musician Isaac Hayes has died. He was 65.

Hayes passed away on Sunday (08/10/08) morning at a Memphis, Tennessee hospital. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

According to reports, the songwriter was rushed to Baptist East Hospital after receiving a call from Hayes' wife who found him lying near a treadmill in their home.

Police at The Shelby County Sheriff's Office are investigating the star's death, but do not believe foul play was a factor.

Born in 1942 in Covington, Tennessee, Hayes was raised by his maternal grandparents, who moved the family to Memphis when he was six.

Hayes' early ambitions of becoming a doctor were redirected when he won a talent contest in ninth grade, singing Nat King Cole's Looking Back.

A self-taught musician, he was hired in 1964 by Tennessee-based Stax Records as a backup pianist, working as a session musician for music greats including Otis Redding. He then paved his way to stardom with the release of his album Hot Buttered Soul in 1969.

The soul singer then broke out with a number one hit with the 1971 Grammy Award-winning Theme From Shaft from the iconic movie, starring actor Richard Roundtree.

Hayes' chart-topping singles also include Hold On, I'm Coming and Soul Man.

In the early 1970s, Hayes continued to forge a path for disco and urban-contemporary music, making way for legendary singers like Barry White.

In a 1999 interview reflecting on his career he said of his influence: "I knew nothing about the business, or trends and things like that. I think it was a matter of timing. I didn't know what was unfolding."

In addition to music, Hayes appeared in several movies, including It Could Happen to You with Nicolas Cage, Ninth Street with Martin Sheen and Reindeer Games, starring Ben Affleck.

Hayes enjoyed success as a radio show host in New York City from 1996 to 2002, and later in Memphis.

His distinctive voice can also be heard as part of Nickelodeon's "Nick at Nite" program and in scenes from his role as Chef during a stint on animated TV show South Park.

The 50-year-old passed away on Saturday (08/09/08) morning at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

News of the actor's illness emerged last week, but his publicist Danica Smith released a number of statements earlier this week playing down reports of Mac's deteriorating health.
