Diana Ross hasn’t seen ‘Dreamgirls’ yet - the film based on her life.
The musical movie, which stars Beyoncé Knowles, tells the story of a
fictional three-piece Motown girl band and their rise to fame, similar to
the career of Ross’ group The Supremes.
Despite being the inspiration for the movie - which won a Golden Globe on
Monday (01.15.07) for Best Film Musical or Comedy - Ross claims she has been
too busy to watch it but is planning on viewing it soon.
She quipped to US talk show host David Letterman: “Yes, I’ve heard a lot
about it. I’m going to see it with my lawyers. I would like to be able to
see it.”
The 62-year-old diva, who confessed she hadn’t seen the original stage
version either, is pleased that she’s the creative force for the film.
She added: “I like to inspire the talent that it is out there today.”
In the movie, Beyoncé‘s character, Deena Jones, bears a striking resemblance
to Ross in her early career.
Ross also revealed she is going to appear as a mentor on the next series of
US TV talent show ‘American Idol’ and is set to embark on a world tour in
March to promote her new album ‘I Love You’.
