Daryl Hannah has been arrested during a protest to save a public garden in
Los Angeles.

The actress - who shot to fame as Madison the mermaid in popular 80s film
‘Splash’ - was among a number of campaigners taken into custody during the
demonstration in South Central on Tuesday (06.13.06).

Minutes before her arrest, Hannah - who had spent three weeks in a tree on
the site - said: “I’m planning on holding my position. I’m very confident
this is the morally right thing to do.”

The 14-acre Central Urban Garden - which is managed by immigrant farmers who
grow fruit and vegetables there - is due to be bulldozed by developers.

Alberto Tlatoa - who has regularly used the site for the last eight years -
said: “This project is fundamental. It’s a safe haven for the community, a
place for the elderly to come, and it’s an important source of food for many
low-income families.”

Hannah is not the only star to have joined campaigners on-site.
‘Titanic’ actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlie Sheen and ‘The Rock’ star Ed
Harris have all given their support to the fight to save the project.

Ok there’s one star who actually acted in a situation literally. I remember splash used to be one of my favorite movies.

see these stupid developers choose the wrong damn places, why dont they go build over a landfill or some crap is they decide to put overpriced condos or shoping centers. This pisses me off they take the nicest dman places and turn them into suburban dumps with cheap tract housing, and fug them up with fake ass decor, and they leave the ugly places alone. why cnat they develop on a fricking plain or something. not nice lush wooded areas they we need becuase the rise of these tract housing that is too expensive (300-400’s for a house that cost nothing over 50,000 to build) I know these companies like centex homes that biuld like that. they cna build a whole block for 13 mil with 300 houses in it. They get tax breaks and shit for making gardens like these dissapear.

thats why people, develop smart, and dont take over beautiful lands you cant replace.

at least japan is smart they are getting into sky-cities!!!! and its the most brilliant building idea ever!!!
