Jennifer Lopez has sacked her new manager.
The ‘Wedding Planner’ star fired Jeff Kwatinetz - who was once engaged to
Brittany Murphy and heads management company The Firm - over the weekend.
J.Lo, 37, has refused to comment on the split, but The Firm has issued a
statement saying: “Jennifer is a dear friend of The Firm and will remain so
regardless of the business relationship. This was a decision based on
differing styles and expectations and we wish her the absolute best.”
Lopez has endured a disappointing last 12 months. Her 2005 album ‘Rebirth’
flopped and while her role in ‘An Unfinished Life’ with Robert Redford and
Morgan Freeman achieved critical acclaim, it failed to win her the expected
award nominations.
J.Lo has parted ways from The Firm at an extremely busy time in her career
Her new movie ‘Bordertown’, in which she stars with Antonio Banderas and
plays a journalist investigating the murder of young female factory workers,
will be released in October.
‘El Cantante’ a biopic of one of the pioneers of salsa Hector Lavoe, which
also stars J.Lo’s husband Marc Anthony, just premiered at the Toronto Film
Festival to positive reviews and is scheduled to be released in the next few
months.
Lopez’s album of Spanish-language ballads, ‘Como Ama Una Mujer’ (‘The Way A
Woman Loves’ ), is also scheduled for release in November.
During the last year several managers have left The Firm, taking with them a
number of high-profile clients, including Orlando Bloom, Natalie Portman and
the Dixie Chicks.
