Matt Damon To Play Alien Expert Bob Lazar

Matt Damon's dreams of playing real-life alien expert Bob Lazar are back on - a new biopic about the scientist has been greenlighted. Damon was reportedly onboard to play Lazar four years ago when movie executives at New Line were hoping to turn his life story and his recollections of working at S4, a secret military base located at Papoose Lake in Nevada, into a movie, but film plans stalled. Now Curmudgeon Films - the company behind Cameron Diaz's movie My Sister's Keeper - has taken over the project and Kenneth Yakkel is adapting TV interviews Lazar conducted with Las Vegas reporter George Knapp for the movie.




A spokesman for the project says, "2009 marks the 20th anniversary of Lazar's amazing account of back engineering one of nine alien flying saucers recovered by the U.S. military.

"Threats on his (Lazar) life forced him to go public with the story. The film is based on his amazing eyewitness accounts of working at S4.



"Matt Damon would be at the top of our list to play Lazar. I had heard he was interested in it years ago when New Line was going to do the Lazar story."

Leann Rimes has seemingly made her reported romance with TV co-star Eddie Cibrian official - the pair stepped out together to attend a Kings of Leon gig in Los Angeles over the weekend. The pair has been at the center of fervid speculation they are an item after they were caught on camera kissing during an intimate dinner in California in March while on a break from filming TV movie Northern Lights.



Rimes was accused of cheating on her husband, Dean Sheremet, while Cibrian - who has vehemently denied an affair - subsequently separated from his wife, Brandi Glanville. The Blue singer is also rumoured to have split from Sheremet, her husband of seven years, but has yet to comment on the reports. But despite the pair both insisting they are not a couple, they decided to face the world together by enjoying a date on Saturday - their second in the space of a week. They were snapped enjoying a game of golf in Valencia, California last week - with Cibrian being pictured leaving Rimes' home in Santa Monica, California on Thursday morning after allegedly spending the night.

Eddie Cibrian's estranged wife Brandi Glanville tells People: "He's just somebody I don't know." In March, she had stood by her husband of eight years after allegations surfaced that Cibrian, 36, and Rimes, 26, were having affair.

"I don't understand," she says now. "You think you know one thing and you wake up and it's all been a lie."

"They know that daddy is at work all the time," she says. "That's what I tell them. When he does come home it is surprising for them and they are very happy."

Glanville, on the other hand, has a different reaction: "I'm just like, 'You know what? You're not the man I married.' "

She adds that she has spoken with Rimes twice recently, and told her, "'He's all yours.' "

Glanville says she has no plans to reconcile with Cibrian, and hopes to file divorce papers soon. "There is one side of him that I absolutely love and always will," she notes, "but that side of him is not the side I'm divorcing."
