Corsets Are Tight.. Just Ask Keira
Keira Knightley has claimed corsets are the reason women were alwaysconsidered "the weaker sex".
The 23-year-old actress - who has donned the restrictive undergarments in
period dramas including 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'The Duchess' - says the
waist cinchers stopped oxygen getting to the brain, making females seem less
intelligent than they were.
She told Hamptons magazine: "It's obvious why women were called the weaker
sex, because you can hardly breathe in a corset. It's a fight just to get
oxygen to your brain."

23.5 Inch Waist
Keira Knightley has a 23-and-a-half-inch waist.Justine Gale - who was a body double for the actress on the set of her new movie ‘The Duchess’ - has revealed the extent of the actress’ tiny body.
Justine – who has the same measurements as Keira and tried on all the outfits before scenes - said: “When pulling in my corset, all measurements were checked. I was most thankful for that on the day a new wardrobe assistant mistakenly pulled me into a 22-and-a-half-inch waist. Ouch! I’m sure Keira felt the same… and thankfully I was ‘let out’ an inch.”
“Anyway, any pain was worth it to be able to wear the unbelievably beautiful dresses, some of which were fitted on me just hours before they were worn by Keira and shot on screen.”
Keira admits she had some difficulties squeezing into all the restrictive costumes for her role in the period drama.
She explained: “I had quite a few different corsets, and it was really weird because they were all obviously made to measure for me, but some of them I could breathe in, and some of them I absolutely couldn't... and it was a complete nightmare!”
Keira isn’t the only celebrity to have a tiny waist.
Kylie Minogue was reported to have a 16-inch waist corset when she went on tour in 2005, while Victoria Beckham is said to have a 23-inch waist.
Pregnant But Not Anorexic
Keira Knightley wants to get pregnant so people won’t think she is anorexic.‘The Duchess’ actress – who is often criticised for her slim figure –
believes she would get a break from her detractors if she had a baby.
She said: “That’s a good reason to have a kid. They won’t say I’m anorexic
any more. S**t, I’ve got to have a child.”
The 23-year-old actress – who recently revealed she has been feeling “jumpy”
after a passer-by jumped out and screamed abuse at her while she walked
alone near her London home – also claims the constant questions about her
weight are “not appropriate”.
She added: “I can’t win. One week I’m anorexic and now my curves are too
big. I mean really? It’s a joke. What’s next? Am I too tall, too short?
Well, I’m sorry I’m me.
“It’s so predictable to be asked about it, but to me it’s not appropriate.”
The star’s actor boyfriend Rupert Friend – who she met on the set of ‘Pride
and Prejudice’ – recently revealed he is in no rush to have children and is
not planning to propose to Keira any time soon.

.The 23-year-old actress - who plays Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire, inperiod drama 'The Duchess' - is "proud" of her modest assets and didn't want
them changed in any publicity shots.
A source said: "She has insisted that her figure stay in its natural state.
She is proud of her body and doesn't want it altered.
"But she looks flat-chested throughout the whole movie."
Keira's decision comes after her breasts were enlarged for posters and in
publicity stills for her 2004 movie 'King Arthur'.
She said at the time: "Those things certainly weren't mine! I was like, 'OK,
fine. I honestly don't give a s**t!' "
Keira - who is dating her 'Pride and Prejudice' co-star Rupert Friend -
previously revealed she would like to have larger breasts, adding: "I would
love to have boobs! I'm never going to get them. I'm naturally who I am."
