Oprah Says Whitney Houston Chat Her Best Interview EVER
Oprah Winfrey is ecstatic at how her interview with comeback queen Whitney Houston panned out - branding the no-holds-barred chat "the best interview I've ever done". The I Will Always Love You superstar is returning to the limelight with her first album in six years, after battling an alleged drug problem and divorcing husband Bobbie Brown. As part of her promotional duties in preparation for her new record, I Turn To You, Houston gave media mogul Winfrey the exclusive comeback interview for the new season of her hit talk show. And it seems the session has been a tremendous success - Winfrey insists her sit-down talk with Houston is the most significant "connection" she's ever had with a guest.She says in a statement to Access Hollywood, "I think it's the best interview I've ever done. But I guess you're supposed to let other people say that about yourself. I can't think of a moment, ever, when I had a stronger connection to the person I was interviewing.
"My approach to this interview was to not be judgemental in any way, and not to go in trying to get her to say things to make a 'moment'. I just wanted to be able to have an honest conversation with her. One woman to another woman. And the day of the interview I literally prayed about that all day long. I just wanted a connection between the two of us. And that is what happened."
The interview will air in the U.S. on September 14.
David Blaine Breaks Record for Holding Breath Underwater
David Blaine has broken the world record for holding your breath – live onTV.
The American illusionist didn’t breathe for an astonishing 17 minutes and
four seconds on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday (04/30/08).
Before undertaking the dangerous feat, performed in a water tank, Blaine
breathed pure oxygen to prepare, which is allowed under Guinness World
Records rules.
Afterwards, he said it was a “lifelong dream” to break the record.
He said: “I really thought I was not going to make it.
“At minute 12 I felt the pain coming, and by minute 14 it was overwhelming.
This was a whole other level of pain. I still feel as if somebody hit me in
the stomach with the hardest punch they could.”
The previous record of 16 minutes and 32 seconds was set in February.
Two years ago, Blaine went into convulsions and had to be pulled from a
water tank during a similar stunt.

'The Oprah Burial Mask'
A sculpture of Oprah Winfrey by artist Daniel Edwards. 'Standing before the burial mask of King Tut's great-grandmother when it was displayed in Philadelphia, I finally understood how the creation of an object could be the act of preparing for a better place. It inspired me to create such an object,' explains the artist, whose favorite reference for his contemporary burial mask was a photo of Oprah praying.
'I tried to depict the feeling of inner peace that was so evident on her face in that photo.' The Oprah Burial Mask will debut in Chicago on the 24th of April, near Oprah's Harpo Studios at GARDENfresh Gallery, courtesy of NYC's Leo Kesting Gallery.
