Nicole Richie’s Recent Split Not Mutual
Nicole Richie and fiancé Adam Goldstein's recent split was not mutual, according to reports.The stunning 'Simple Life' star and club DJ Adam, who dated for a year before getting engaged in February, called time on their nine-month engagement saying it was a joint decision.
But, according to America's New York Post, sources have claimed Goldstein ended the relationship because of Richie's 'moodiness' - attributed to maintaining her stick-thin figure - had put a strain on the couple.
Richie's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, confirmed that the couple had split, saying the break-up had been in the works for several days.
Richie, the 24-year-old daughter of R&B crooner Lionel Richie, will begin shooting the fourth season of 'Simple Life' early next year.
Richie and her co-star and ex-friend, Paris Hilton, have feuded publicly in the past year.
The new format of the hit show will allow Richie and Hilton to remain separated. They will each take turns playing a 'wife' and running households, with the family involved each week deciding which did a better job.
Hilton announced in October that she was ending her own engagement to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis.

Nicole Richie and her fiancé, Adam Goldstein, have called off their engagement.The stunning 'Simple Life' star and club DJ AM, who dated for a year before getting engaged in February, split after a nine-month engagement.
Nicole's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, confirmed the couple had decided to call time on their relationship yesterday (12.07.05) but has so far refused to give out any further details.
The split follows Nicole's former best friend Paris Hilton's split from fiancé Paris Latsis in October.
Meanwhile, Nicole and Paris are set to star in a fourth series of 'The Simple Life'.
The reality TV show was axed from the US Fox TV network last month - but has now been picked up by E! Entertainment Television for another run.
It is not known whether the 24-year-old stars will appear on the show together - because the pair have been locked in a bitter feud for months.
It was rumoured Nicole, daughter of soul star Lionel Richie, had infuriated her pal by showing her infamous sex tape, 'One Night In Paris', to friends at a party.
However, Richie later rubbished the claims, insisting the pair just 'grew apart.'

Perez Hilton reports that DJ AM had enough of Nicole's weight issues and partying ways.
"Adam was fed up with Nicole," said one source. "Her issues with her weight, I'm reluctant to say 'anorexia', caused her behavior to be very erratic and moody lately."
Another source said that Adam discovered some troubling news about his girlfriend.
"A.M. has a residency in Vegas, where he goes to spin every weekend," said the other source. "And, when the cat's away, the mouse will play. Adam found out that Nicole was 'partying' when he was away, and he does not tolerate that."

Us Weekly has learned exclusively that Nicole Richie, 24, and fiance Adam ''D.J. AM'' Goldstein, 32, have called it quits.''They have decided to break off the engagement,'' Richie's rep Cindy Guagenti confirms to Us. ''The decision is mutual.''
Sources tell Us Weekly that the pair, who had dated since 2003 and were to wed next year, decided to break up a few days ago.
Of her planned nuptials, Richie told Us earlier this year, ''I'm so happy. We're taking it slowly.''
