Axl Rose is working on new Guns N’ Roses album

Axl Rose is working on a new Guns N' Roses album.

The 'Paradise City' singer has been busy working on material with his bandmates and he has promised fans they won't have to wait 15 years like they did for last LP 'Chinese Democracy' - which was eventually released in 2008.

He said: "All the guys are writing, and we recorded a lot of songs over the years. We'll figure out what we feel best about. 'Chinese Democracy' was done in piecemeal with one person here and one there at different times. 'Appetite For Destruction' was the only thing written with lyrics and melody fitting the guitar parts at the same time. After that, I got a barrage of guitar songs that I was supposed to put words to, and I don't know if that was the best thing for the band. I do want to lean more toward lyrics and melody."

Axl insists he isn't to blame for the huge delay between 1993 album 'The Spaghetti Incident?' and 'Chinese Democracy' and insists the LP became so problematic to make because of the difficulties of working in the music industry.

Speaking about the record, he told the USA Today newspaper: "I had to deal with so many other things that don't have to do with music but have to do with the industry. There's such a loss of time. It was more about survival. There wasn't anyone to work with or trust. Someone would come in to help produce and the reality was they just wanted to mix it and get it out the door. They had a different agenda. (The next album) will come out sooner."

Axl also admitted he can't see an end to his feud with the other original members of Guns N' Roses - which includes Slash and Duff McKagan - coming to an end in the near future and he blames the hard rock group's huge worldwide success for their acrimonious split.

He said: "I feel that ball's not in my court. I'm surviving this war, not the one who created this war ... I was really naive. I thought the success of 'Appetite for Destruction' would bring everyone together more. It did the exact opposite. They got success and wanted to run in their own directions. I thought they'd go, 'Whoa, it did work.' But they wanted to do their own huge bigger success off of Guns."

Axl Rose Gets Into An Airport Fight

Here's the video. (TMZ)

Rose has now released a statement through his representatives, blaming the photographers for causing trouble by acting "aggressively" towards him and several female members of his entourage.

The statement reads, "Axl Rose was unhurt last evening when he was accosted by an unruly group of paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Mr. Rose, who was about to enter a security checkpoint at LAX when the altercation took place, was approached by a group of unchecked and unruly photographers who became aggressive with the singer and female members of the travelling group. Mr. Rose was not injured during the unprovoked attack and was able to board his flight without further incident."

Guns N’ Roses Frontman Axl Rose Has Been Missing For 2 Months

The eccentric rocker has infuriated bosses at record label Geffen after
disappearing without promoting the band’s long-awaited ‘Chinese Democracy’
album, which was released last week 15 years after the last Guns N’ Roses
LP.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “People have been trying to
contact Axl for two months and he’s completely AWOL [Absent Without Leave]
.

It is frustrating because the album would have had a much better chance of
going to number one if he had only been prepared to show his face
.

You would have thought after spending all those years on an album you might
do a few weeks of promotion
.

Everyone knows Axl is a bit of a maverick genius and won’t do anything he
doesn’t want to
.”

‘Chinese Democracy’ was beaten to the number one spot in the UK album charts
by The Killers’ ‘Day and Age’, which sold 200,000 copies – nearly twice as
many as Axl’s record, which is rumored to have cost $13 million, making it
the most expensive ever album.

It has been claimed Axl’s disappearance could be due to him entering into
secret talks to reform the classic line-up of the band.

WENN : This I Love - Sorry

Former guitarist and songwriter Izzy Stradlin has performed as a guest star
with the band at shows in 2004 and 2006, and ex-lead guitarist Slash has
admitted he likes ‘Chinese Democracy’.

The fate of Slash’s new band Velvet Revolver hangs in the balance after they
were dropped from their record label.

First week US sales of ‘Chinese Democracy’ are estimated at between 300,000
and 500,000 copies. It is expected to chart at number two on Wednesday
(12/03/08) behind Kanye West’s ‘808s and Heartbreak’.

So far, ‘Chinese Democracy’ has only gone to number one in Brazil and
Finland.
