Nick Hogan Gets 8 Months in Jail

Hulk Hogan's son Nick Boellea has been jailed for eight months for felony reckless driving, after the August 2007 car crash that left his friend critically injured.

Bollea, 17, pleaded no contest to the charge, as part of a plea deal that meant he couldn't serve more than one year in Pinellas County Jail.

As well as the jail time, Bollea was also handed five years probation; his driver's license has been suspended for three years; and he has been banned from drinking alcohol for five years.

The sentence was handed out in court in Pinellas, Florida today (05/09/08).

The punishment stems from a horrific crash in Clearwater, Florida last year, when Bollea drove his Toyota Supra into a palm tree at high speed. His passenger John Graziano suffered brain injuries, and is still being receiving medical treatment.

Lancome Sues Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman is being sued by French cosmetics company Lancome.

The 'Kill Bill' star - who complained Lancome had used unauthorized pictures of her on Canadian advertising billboards and Asian websites after her contract with them had expired - is now being sued by the company, who claim the actress is not entitled to the $1 million she is demanding.

However, Thurman's lawyer says he was surprised by the lawsuit, adding: "I thought we were negotiating in good faith. I guess the French decided to strike a pre-emptive blow.

"But I'm delighted that the case will go before a jury. They got an enormous benefit throughout the world after the contract was over, and $1 million doesn't begin to do it."

Thurman first signed a two-year contract with the cosmetics giant in April 2000, for which she was paid $5.8 million for the first two years and $3.1 million for each additional year the contract was extended.

Lancome insist the contract ensures they are not responsible for any third parties using her name and photograph after the contract expires.

The company's lawyer Peter D. Raymond said they "can't control everybody out in the world".

This is the latest in a series of legal battles for Thurman.

Earlier this week, Jack Jordan was convicted of stalking and harassing the 38-year-old actress in Manhattan's Supreme Court.

Poor Uma. She just won a case against a mentally ill fan. He stalked her for 2 years - online, on set and even on her Greenwich Village doorstep.

Britney Spears Vents at the Recording Studio

Britney Spears leaving the recording studio in Burbank last night after a day at court (05/06/08).

Although it was not made clear how Britney’s visitation rights have
increased, Kevin’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan said it was an “expansion of
time
”, and went on to praise the troubled singer’s progress.

He said: "It is a cautious step, but a step forward nonetheless.

We are seeing signs of her progress, and consistency over time is something
welcome by Kevin
.

The children are doing great."

Britney, who was accompanied by her family as she left the Los Angeles
court, refused to comment on the ruling.

The singer’s parents Jamie and Lynne said in a statement: "We are so pleased
with Britney's progress, and we are appreciative of the court's recognition
of this progress
."

Kevin’s spokesperson Elliot Mintz was pleased with the ruling, saying: "At
the end of this saga Kevin is hoping and believing that there will be two
children who are raised in the company of the two people who love them
.”

During the closed hearing, the court heard details of a report on Britney’s
mental health.

The singer was first stripped of visitation rights to Sean Preston, two, and
one-year-old Jayden James in January after she was ruled to be a danger to
herself and the children.

In February, the ruling was amended to allow occasional supervised visits
with her sons.

Britney’s father and lawyer currently have control of the singer’s personal
and business affairs, which will be reviewed at a hearing in July.

I don't know why she loves these boots so much. They must give great comfort for that heel.

Billy Bob’s 14-year-old Son Banging a 22-year old Woman

Billy Bob Thornton's 14-year-old son is reportedly being questioned by police about his relationship with an older woman.

William Thornton is rumored to be under investigation by Los Angeles police about a possible sexual relationship with a 22-year-old woman. According to gossip website TMZ.com, the lid was lifted on the relationship by the woman's jealous ex-boyfriend, who reported them to police.

Insiders claim police officers are pursuing an "active investigation" into the crime of "unlawful sex" which, in this case, would be a charge of sex with a minor.

Both William - known as 'Willie' - and Billy Bob have allegedly been interviewed by the sex crimes unit of the force.

Billy Bob, now 52, was previously married to Angelina Jolie, who was 20 years his junior.

Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years in the Slammer

Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday (04/24/08).

The Hollywood actor – who owed $2.8 million in unreturned tax bills from
1999 to 2001 – was condemned by Judge William Terrell Hodges for exhibiting
a "history of contempt over a period of time" for US tax laws.

Snipes, 45, apologized for his "costly mistakes" and blamed his failure to
pay on his lack of education.

Speaking at the court in Ocala, Florida, Snipes said: "I am an idealistic,
naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritually motivated artist, unschooled
in the science of law and finance
.

"I am well-intentioned, but miseducated".

During the hearing, Snipes’ lawyers offered letters from the star’s family
members and friends – including Hollywood actors Denzel Washington and Woody
Harrelson
– speaking about his good character.

image

They had recommended Snipes be given home detention because he had no
previous criminal record.

Before he had been handed his sentence, Snipes surprised the court by
offering the government $5 million for unpaid taxes
over several years,
which was at first denied before being accepted.

Prosecutors called it "grandstanding" to avoid jail time, insisting the sum
wouldn’t cover the amount of money Snipes owed.

Snipes will serve his sentence at a prison near his New Jersey home.
