Blink 182: ‘Our future is wide open’

Blink 182 have a "wide open future".

The band - made up of Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge - have been released from their contract with Interscope and are excited about what the future now holds.

Mark told MTV.com: "As far as labels, to be honest, we've been holding our break waiting for final word from the attorneys that our contract with Interscope has ended.

"Now the future's a wide-open door. We're lucky to be in a position where, after 20 years in our band, we can be independent and open to all options."

He added the label and the group had parted relatively amicably and he is happy so many people worked hard to make the band a success.

He added: "The reasons for us not working together are many and varied, but mostly we wish them luck in everything in their future, and thank those there who've worked so hard on Blink-182 throughout the years."

Mark recently confirmed the band were recording new material ahead of a tour next year.

The veteran bassist wrote on his Google + profile: "Sorry, not trying to be mysterious. Yes, this is me opening a new file for a blink-182 song. I had three ideas today, all very different. I wish I knew how to operate Logic better. These guitar tracks sound like Frankenstein's monster singing dubstep..... (sic)"

Cover Drive love touring with Kelly Clarkson

Bajan band Cover Drive have been taking tips from Kelly Clarkson on tour, but are still finding time to play pranks on each other backstage.

The 'Twilight' group are picking up tips while supporting the former 'American Idol' winner on the UK leg of her tour, and take every opportunity to talk to her because they think she is a real sweetheart.

Singer Amanda Reifer exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Touring with Kelly Clarkson has been amazing so far. She's an amazing singer and performer as well so we get to learn from watching her, but it's also a great opportunity to just share a stage with her and see her fans and win new fans over from those performances.

"It's usually so busy backstage, but sometimes we do see her in the cafeteria and we have a quick catch up. She's very down to earth, very friendly. She's exactly what you'd expect. A Southern US girl; she loves to laugh and have fun, she's really sweet."

The band - also made up of drummer and rapper T-Ray Armstrong, guitarist Barry 'Bar-Man' Hill and bass player Jamar Harding - hail from Barbados and like to bring their fun-loving spirit to the backstage area where they constantly surprise each other with pranks.

Amanda laughed: "I'm used to hanging out with guys so I like it, it's a lot of fun. There's a lot of jokes, pranks, a lot of teasing all the time.

"We haven't played any on Kelly - we don't feel right doing that yet - but we play pranks on each other. For instance when someone's in the bathroom, we'll run in and throw cold water on them. It's pretty funny."

Lil Wayne: I’ve recorded 90 tracks with Dr. Dre

Lil Wayne has recorded 90 unreleased songs with Dr. Dre.

The 'Lollipop' rapper admits the pair have recorded close to 100 tracks over the years but even he is not sure when Dre is going to release some of their material.

He told MTV News: "I've always worked with Dre. I'm not sure if you guys know how Dre works, Dre always sends you a song, so I done, probably did like 90 songs for Dre. You just never know which one he gonna put out."

Wayne is preparing for the release of his forthcoming 10th solo album, 'I Am Not a Human Being II' in December, and while the rapper didn't say whether or not a Dre collaboration will appear on the record, he admits Kanye West has played a big part in the album.

He added: "Yeah he got some music on there. It's crazy, actually I don't want to give too much up but he's got a big hand in the album, you'll see.

"I'll always be up to work with Dre, it's always cool with him."

Dappy didn’t eat while recording

Dappy only ate once a day while recording 'Bad Intentions'.

The 'No Regrets' rapper was so focused on making his debut solo album, he didn't eat or sleep properly for months.

He said: "I could've kept going adding to the album but when I lost all the weight in my face and my body I thought 'I got to stop.

"My metabolism was running crazy. We was sleeping at eight in the morning and waking up at six in the afternoon.

"Eating once a day - so you can imagine four months of that. I'm only just coming round to normal life again now."

Dappy - real name Costadinos Contostavlos - also said he will be "devastated" if all his efforts don't pay off with him scoring a number one record in his native UK on Sunday.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "If it doesn't go to number one I will be devastated. I'm going to curl up in a ball and cry.

"If I don't go number one what am I gonna do? It's over. Obviously I got Taylor Swift and Lawson also releasing albums and I'm s**t-scared if I tell you the truth.

"I got a dream to fulfill and kids to feed."

Taylor Swift’s video is love letter to Paris

Taylor Swift's new music video is a "love letter to Paris".

The 22-year-old singer premiered her new clip for 'Begin Again' yesterday and made it as a tribute to the French capital as she thinks it is a place which can help cure a broken heart.

Taylor - who shot the video in Paris - told MTV News: "I think we've all had that day where we just decide to wander around and think about things.

"It's gonna be, like, a love letter to Paris because it's just the city and this story line of somebody moving on and finding yourself again."

The 'singer - whose own turbulent love life has been well documented on her tracks - loves making videos and is enlisting her fans to help come up with ideas for future releases.

She added: "I'm so excited for the videos I wanna shoot for this album. I just can't wait until the fans decide which of the singles get videos and what's gonna happen, and it's all up in the air at the moment, but I feel it falling into place."

Taylor Swift Torments Her Ex’s In This Way

Taylor Swift thinks it's "fun" to torment ex-boyfriends on her songs.

Speaking about 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together', Taylor - who has previously dated Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and John Mayer - said: "I made a song that I knew would absolutely drive him crazy when he heard it on the radio. Not only would it hopefully be played a lot, so that he'd have to hear it, but it's the opposite of the kind of music that he was trying to make me feel inferior to. I did that because that's fun."

While her bad relationships have given her lots of hit records, Taylor - who is now dating Conor Kennedy - wishes she never had the inspiration and her romances had worked out.

image

She told USA Today newspaper: "I can say I'd honestly rather be happy than have 30 to 40 songs that I've written about these thrilling, exciting, horrible, unhappy times. I know red flags, and I steer away from them, because I have a priority on being happy.

"At some point, you grow out of being attracted to that flame that burns you over and over and over again. Thankfully, I hadn't learned that lesson yet when I wrote this record."
