Tyra Banks is NOT fat-I don’t care what reality you’re talking about-real or t.v or modeling or whatever. Are we as a society so use to seeing anorexic or cracked-out models/actresses that we think it’s normal to look like a skelton covered with a thin coat of skin?!! I guess anybody with a normal body (which includes fat under muscle and tissue) is now considered fat nowadays. Hey-why not just skip the “middleman” (skin, muscle, fat, organs, blood) and go straight to bones. Tyra Banks IS fat for a model. Hey, I don’t write the rules, I’m just repeating them. I’ve seen her on her show several times telling the models to put the food down because they will never make it with an extra ounce on them. She then goes on to explain that she herself can eat like a normal person, because people are willing to work around her extra pounds (ounces), because she’s Tyra freaking Banks. Modeling is a brutal, backstabbing business. Is that A Bad Thing? Probably. But it’s not going to change anytime soon.
As far as it affecting real women, I don’t believe it does. There are seas of actually fat people, fat in any reality, from coast to coast, in America at least.

Once again-I repeat-Tyra Banks is NOT fat-no matter what so called “standard” you’re going by! I know she said she was considered “fat” in the industry-but she was making the point that the industry’s warped view of what is fat or not is so crazy-that they would think someone like her is fat. It was meant to be an irony. Tyra also told Janice that her calling obviously thin model fat because they might have a more curvacious figure “fat” was the reason why so many young kids had eating disorders-and they do-so saying that people aren’t affected by this insane mess is so not true. If that’s the case-what the in world’s wrong with Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan, the Olson Twins, Hilliary Duff and now it seems Anna Kourniakoval? As far as rules go-actually everyone of us makes the rules in one way or the modleing industry-Hollywood-whatever would have went out of business a long time ago. We buy the crap they shell out and believe it-so that’s why they keep making it. If we would spend our money on nothing but magazines, movies and clothes that catered to “fat” people-how long do you think it would be before the whole machine would switch over? It’s us who controls the media-by getting sucked into the whole “image” game and spending our money on it-thus the machine keeps shelling it out.
And yeah-it is a brutal business-but that once again has to do with the machine and the all mighty dollar-if they thought they could make millions with a elephant in a red thong bikini-they would put that on the cover of Sports Illustrated. In the end-it doesn’t not about image-it’s about money. And Tyra was warning other girls that if they didn’t wanted the problems she had as a “fat” model-then they should try to keep their weight down. It was only after “they” saw that she sold the product just as well as the “normal” models that they make exceptions for her-which brings me back to my main point-Image is nothing-Money is everything.

If you are non-english, then hire an interpreter, because I said some people on here are english as a second language, and no offense to them. (ESL= english as a second language.) Illiterate America should care, the internet is full of lazy-ass people who have no respect for language. People should use this as an oppurtunity, not only to insult and ridicule people, but to hone up their writing and speech skills.
