Madonna Blasted By Religious Leaders

Religious leaders have accused Madonna of "blasphemy" for staging a
mock-crucifixion
- minutes from The Vatican.

The Queen Of Pop wears a crowns of thorns and poses on a mirrored cross in a
scene from her Confessions world tour which comes to Rome on Sunday
(08.06.06).

The concert will be staged at the Italian capital's Olympic Stadium, just
two miles from The Vatican - and outraged Christians are calling for the
singer to be "excommunicated" from the Catholic Church.

Cardinal Ersilio Tonino, speaking with the Pope's approval, was quoted by
Italian newspaper La Stampa as saying: "This is a blasphemous challenge to
the faith and a profanation of the Cross. She should be excommunicated. To
crucify herself in the city of popes and martyrs is an act of open
hostility."

In a show of religious solidarity Muslin and Jewish leaders have also
criticized the 47-year-old star - now a staunch follower of the Kabbalah
faith.

Mario Scialoja, president of the Muslim World League in Italy said: "We
deplore it, we feel it is an act of bad taste. She would do better to go
home."

Riccardo Pacifici, spokesman for Rome's Jewish community, added: "We express
solidarity with the Catholic world. It's a disrespectful act, and to do it
in Rome is even worse."

Madonna previously upset the Catholic Church with her 1989 music video for
'Like A Prayer', featuring burning crosses and a black Jesus.

Madonna: The Next Angelina Jolie?

Madonna has pledged to raise $3 million to help African orphans.

The singer has launched her own charity ‘Raising Malawi’ to raise aid and
support for villages in the African country.

She told Time magazine: “Now that I have children, and now that I have what
I consider to be a better perspective on life, I have felt responsible for
the children of the world.

"I've been doing bits and bobs about it and I suppose I was looking for a
big, big project I could sink my teeth into."

The ‘Hung Up’ singer will work with anti-poverty crusader Dr. Jeffrey Sachs
who - the founder of the Millennium Villages project which has already
enlisted the help of U2 singer Bono and Angelina Jolie.

The Millennium Villages project works to make villages self-sufficient
through such simple tools as schools, seeds and clean drinking water.

As part of her ‘Raising Malawi’ project, Madonna will help to finance a $1
million documentary about the plight of Malawian orphans and work to improve
the health, agriculture and economy in the country.

Madonna founded ‘Raising Malawi’ with Kabbalah Center founder Michael Berg
and has already met with former US president Bill Clinton to see if they can
work together to bring low-cost medicines to the area.

The project launches next week, beginning with plans for an orphan-care
centre in Malawi that will be able to feed and educate as many as 1,000
children a day.

Malawi, a southeast African nation of 12 million people, is plagued by AIDS
and malaria and is home to about 1 million orphans.

Madonna has not yet visited the country, but plans to go in October.

It is blasphemous to The Lord and she will have to answer to him for it and him alone. The catholic church is not the only ones to be offended by this because i am a christian and it highly offends me but we have our own freewill to do as we please. Madonna has always done what she wants and although i dont agree with her on anything, she has the right to do it. I dont get this whole excommunicated ordeal with the catholic church….hasnt she already been excommunicated, being that she is not catholic and is now a kabbULA addict? I think it would be more benificial if the catholic church would stop making comments about her actions against God because all it does is give her more attention, and we all know how much she loves that! I think its the main reason she does it, to create conterversy.

There is no such thing as god, just get over it. Do you believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy as well?
I’m not offended by Madonna doing this, it just seems like old hat, she does this sort of thing in every tour. I’m going to see her soon, and am just looking forward to the great songs and atmosphere, I couldn’t care less about something like this. The only thing that annoys me is that she gets all the religious nutters all riled up, and I can’t bear them, I wish they would all p*** off, they’re all crazy, like anyone who believes in god is.
I hate all the religious crap, including Kabbalah, but I still love Madonna, she rocks!!!

You know it says in the bible that “the fool has saith in his heart there is no God”.

I’m glad (but very afraid for those who don’t believe) that there is a God.  Just because people don’t “believe” that there isn’t one, doesn’t mean he doesn’t exsist.  And yes-I know-just because people “believe” he exsist doesn’t mean that he does.  I just prefer to believe that there’s someone in charge of this spaceship we call Earth.  Think about it-we’re hurtling at like 188,000 miles per hour through space where there’s big-ass rocks and snowballs called asteroids and comets just itching to crack this planet in half like a coconut.  I wanna think that there’s someone watching out for all of us down here and is for the most part-making sure that doesn’t happen.  Until he get’s sick of our sinning, evil, war-lovin’ butts and puts a stop to it (the Book of Daniel and Revelations).  If anyone’s wondering why he hasn’t put a stop to it yet-that because his words must be fullfilled before the End comes. Just read the Bible and see for yourself-most of what’s happening today as already be foretold.  If you don’t believe-what will it hurt to check it out anyway?

As far as Madonna is concerned-I think she gave up being a Catholic a long time ago.  While I wouldn’t never tempt God and be foolish and do whatever it is she’s doing with the whole mock-crixifiction thing-that’s on her.  The Catholic church has too many of their own sins to worry about than what Madonna is doing. She, like all of us, has to give account for every idle word spoke and every action taken to a Living God-so I’m just gonna try to make sure I’m not standing near her on Judgement Day.

I don’t post too much anymore just because the people on here are just too dramatic for my taste in dealing with.

However. I will say, Madonna is just a 50 year old soccer mom with a lot of money trying to hang on to relevancy in pop culture. She knows her time is pretty much up since she can no longer keep reinventing herself so she goes for the shock treatment this time around. Well played, moron, well played.

And as for all of you religious people, put a sock in it.

Good job crissy! I thought i was the only one! And by the way, there are NO MYTHS in the bible. If you read it you will see that eveything has came to pass. And comparing The Lord to a tooth fairy? I am sad for you.

It’s taking this long for a faith to become seriously offended by Madonna ???

Can’t stand Madonna but all the freakin pedephile priests in the catholic church offend me more. Just sayin’.....

Hey-I’m not telling anyone to believe in God or not to believe in God.  Let every man be brought forth unto the knowlege of God by his/her own beliefs.  Just know that the wages of sin are death and we ALL (me included) have sin and come short of the glory of God.  Just in case, Hell and eternal suffering-where this is no rest day or night, is real-I think I’ll just keep on believing. Better to have forgivness from GOD(Jesus) and don’t need it than to need it and don’t have it.

Back to Madonna-she did this whole “christian shock and awe” thing back in the 80’s/90’s.  Why do it again?  What is the message she’s trying to get out?

BTW-I hope the Vatican wasn’t offended the last time soley based on the fact that Madonna portrayed Jesus as being Black…..if so then they’re worse than what they’re trying to say she is.

Naw, I don’t think that was it Chrissy, I think they were offended by Jesus cavorting with one of the biggest sluts of our time.

ah….I see….

I am getting so SICK of Madonna and her blasphemy. Leave Christianity alone and go take your dehydrated looking skin and disrect your precious Kabbalah…oh, you wouldn’t do that to the Kabbalah—then it’s not okay to do it to Jesus.

This old whore would be up in arms if another artist did this to the Kabbalah: the hack religion. I don’t care what anyone’s beliefs are, have some respect for another’s religion, group, and gender.

She’s still a trashy-whore-skank!

She’s a worn out slutty freak.

I like Madonna - she’s got balls.  She is EXTREME.  I love it.  As I sit here and write her (old) song like a prayer is on the radio. That chick’s still got it.  It’s good that she wants to do something to help the needy.  Why not leave the old girl alone.

If you don’t like her, don’t pay attention to her. And Ms.Sleepy we don’t need your pity. Just because we do not follow the ways of one single book, does not warrant your pity for us.

This is fabulous.  I am fascinated that the religious leaders still care given the state of the church at this time:  war, molestation, ignorance of AIDS, etc.

I love how people get so offended by entertainers, they are entertaining, it’s their job - do they kill anyone?  Nope.  Get over it.

Also, the term slut is VERY INSULTING TO ALL WOMEN AS A WHOLE.  If you are a female, you insult yourself by calling a woman a slut.  Unless you personally slept with Madonna youself, I don’t understand why you think you know her sexual history.  And if so, who cares, lots of women get treated like shit by MEN, it doesn’t mean they don’t want love, it can just be hard to find.  If people are saying we as women need to hide our sexual capabilites, then become nuns and you won’t even know people like Madonna exist.

They need someone to blame.  She wants to be blamed so she still gets attention.  They are both wrong.  She is a worn out attention whore and frankly it’s not that shocking.
