Well, Nelly did work with Missy Elliot and Timberland years ago.  But, I will agree this is a big departure from her specific sound.

I’ve always liked her, I think she’s so cute.  This is kinda out of her style though, but maybe she’s just expirimenting like Common did with “Electric Circus”

They always seem to sell out and graze over to the hip-hop side, or the country side, or the whatever side that does not match their style.

If people don’t listen to you when you are regular, what makes them think they will listen to you when you switch.

Seems like EVERY artists is teaming up with a hip hop star nowadays….but thats what the big wigs who own the radio & tv stations want…to keep us dumb by shovin strippers, ballas, bacardi, and diamond grills down our throats so we don’t focus on whats really happening in our country.  It’s the only thing that sells now.

I think this song will be huge. If selling out means more money for mama then that’s what I would do too. Staying true and being broke isn’t very appealing.
She looks hot as hell too. Hips are a good thing.

I LOVED her earlier stuff, and I HATE hip hop and rap, so it sucked hearing that.

Well, I simply adore her and her music. I’ve seen her in concert and this girl rocks the hardest while still singing on tune! She sounds even better live. I have all her CDs. I don’t think she sold out. Her music is very Trip Hop/Folksy/Alternative, which already makes her eclectic.

If anyone doubts her talent listen to her first CD Whoa! Nelly. Every song on there is amazing…especially tracks 1,2,4,7,10,11 and 12.
Then check out her sophomore CD Folklore. Tracks 1,2,3,4,8,9,10,11, and 12 are freaking incredible. Her writing is out of this world.

She does remind me of Idina Menzel and I love her too! Loved her in Wicked so much so that I brought the soundtrack.

I love her song “I’m like a bird” & “Get ur Freak on” re-mix with Missy Elliott. She dropped out of the spotlight because she had a baby. Welcome back, Nelly!!!

She’s gorgeous!  I remember her style of music being called trip-hop, I think it was…so is this really that much of a stretch or a sell-out?..I don’t think so, not really anyways…although it doesn’t really showcase her vocals.

Vita, you probaly have a tatt somewhere on your body that says “Im like a Bird..” . Agreed her CD Whoa Nelly is a great CD that was original and slightly alternative. 

This song is a whack sell out. Putting rappers in your songs and making Hip Hop music when you play a Guitar on stage is selling out. Is she going to bring this guy on tour with her now?

LOL, Italia, I’ve considered it. Just joking. But back in high school, I just found her lyrics to be really inspiring and really different. She didn’t sell out by being all Jessica Simpsony and I thought that was great too.

As for her selling out to Hip Hop (which is not a crappy genre seeing as though many other genres have been biting of it since it’s introduction into the mainstream), Nelly has said growing up she listened and drew her inspiration from all types of music includig Hip Hop, Rock, R&B and traditional Portuguese folk music. I know I’m sounding like MariahsGreatestFan (who loves herself some Mariah) in my love for Nelly, but it’s not even about that. I just respect her for not being afraid to do something different and collaborate with all types of people. If Nelly changed her whole look to become Hip Hoppy I could understand what people are saying, but the thing about Nelly is is that she changes her style of music all the time. Whoa! Nelly sounds nothing like Folklore. Not one song. And that’s what makes her cool IMO.

Sorry but I never could stand Nelly Furtado

Boring. I hate to say it but I kind of liekd Nelly’s early shit. it was fun and mindless catchy shit. And I liked the band aid for some reason. Nellie Fartado had a decent song. ONE decent song. BUT she loooks like a man and I think she is really unattractive.

Nelly has a nice voice and I like her songs but when it comes to her image she could use a stylist. I mean, why wear a bag that looks like a port a potty with a dress that’s not suitable for evening?
