Angelina Jolie insists Madonna knew she would run into trouble by adopting a baby from Malawi - because of the country's uncertain adoption laws.
'The Good Shepherd' actress - who has given homes to two underprivileged children, five-year-old Maddox and Zahara, 23 months - says Madonna was open to criticism and problems because Malawi has no set guidelines for such cases.
She is quoted by Britain's New magazine: "Madonna knows very well that she adopted from a country without legal adoption, so it was an unusual situation."
Angelina - who also has a seven-month-old biological daughter Shiloh Nouvel with her partner Brad Pitt - insists she will not make the same mistake as Madonna next time she welcomes an unwanted child into her home.
She said: "I don't anticipate that being a problem for me because I don't intend to adopt a child from a country where there is no legal adoption."

Meanwhile Angelina Jolie is a control freak.
'The Good Shepherd' actress - who has two adopted children, Maddox, five,
and 23-month-old Zahara, and a biological daughter, seven-month-old Shiloh,
with partner Brad Pitt - insists she has to be super-organised to juggle her
professional and hectic family life.
She is quoted by Britain's New magazine as saying: "I'm one of those women
who annoys everybody else in the family with their schedules. I'm like, 'OK,
its two o'clock, everybody has to go to sleep because we have to get up at
four o'clock!' I'm that person."
Angelina admits her career has taken a backseat lately, so she can focus on
her children.
She explained: "Brad and I talk a lot about who's going to work and when and
making sure we don't miss this time in our life with our kids. I worked
maybe two months in the last two years and I'm fine with it."

I think SHE thinks, she’s Mother Teresa. Why can’t she adopt an American baby that’s desperate for a home? Afraid she won’t get as much attention?

I commend her for doing something other stars typiclly dont do. Adopting is a big deal to me, wether its a black child, white, asian etc. People need to give her a break. We dont know what really happened to Jen and Brad’s marrige…my saying is, if it is unbreakable then no one can come between it…obviously something was wrong long before angelina came in the pic. Either way, i know thats neither here nor there…anyone who fosters kids and or adopts kids needs to be commended just for that simple fact. So many kids here and all over the world need parents, even madonna’s stupid ass needs to be commended, she didnt do it the right way BUT atleast she gave that poor kid a home. Anyway, some of you may not agree with me and its okay, we are all here with our own opinions and not here to necessarily agree…Happy Holidays everyone…

mimimumbi- I agree with you. I’ve always liked Ange- thought she was a bit on the unconvential route there for awhile, but I truly believe she changed when she adopted Maddox and because of him she’s become a better person—isn’t that what life is about—living, learning, growing as a person? I also think that she deserves a break… as you said if Jen/Brad’s marriage was that “together”, that “strong”-there would’ve been nothing any 3rd party could have done to get between them… Ange did not “steal” anything away from JA that wasn’t already lost to her—probably way before they made MrMrs.Smth together… my thoughts…

First of all, there are a lot of stars that adopt, they just don’t call the press every time they make a move…I think AJ is a ho, and Brad is just as bad..and I can’t wait for Karma to come back to them. I do feel sorry for the kids.

I agree Someone! And, I doubt with her history she could adopt in the States.

Pache hit the nail on the head. Most developed countries have strict rules for adoptive parents and Ms Jolie would be unlikely to qualify. Would you let your children be raised by a person who has admitted to hiring a hitman to kill herself?

BeeBee..that was then, this is now. I don’t want to start praising Angelina as 90% of posters here hate her guts. But, I did a ton of stupid shit in my youth, before kids, and my son, who is an adult now, turned out just fine.
I agree with mimimumbi and Mariah. Shit, we all can say what we want since it really doesn’t concern most of us but, there are two children that are going to have a chance at life because of Angelina. Can’t throw daggers for saving lives, can we really?

She’s just using a good old trick: in order to make herself look good, she has to make everybody else look bad

The Angelina/Maddona story is pure invention. Didn’t you watch the Larry King interview from where they took that thing? Seriously, I can’t understand how people believe the most idiotic things when they have proof it is not so.

Adoption’s supposed to about what’s best for the child, not what’s convienant for you. I think the whole Madonna adoption thing was just a way to get more publicity, but seriously what are you supposed to say to some kid you want to adopt who’s from one of those countries? “Oh sorry, you’re really cute and all and it really sucks that you live in a mud hut and are malnourished but your country doesn’t have proper adoption laws. I really can’t be bothered with all the negative press that might occur, so you’re just going to have to stay here.”?

oooh, angelina better watch out saying anything about Her Madgesty…we might have a major bitch fight on our hands.
seriously, who would win in a fight btw Madonna and Angelina?
i think Madonna could beat her if it was just a fistfight b/c she’s got freaking man muscles, but i think angie would cut her if she could.

That article isn’t true, Angelina was supportive of Madonna.
Here is the transcript of her words:
“LARRY KING: What do you make of the fuss over Madonna adopting a young African boy?
ANGELINA JOLIE: I don’t know all the details and we’re not close friends, so I wasn’t able to speak with her. I only understand that we all have to be very — everybody who adopts — it’s a difficult thing, to adopt, probably more difficult in many ways than it should be. But it’s great that it is out there. And you have to go through many levels in order to do that.
KING: It should be hard.
JOLIE: It should — it should be hard to be a parent, period. It should be — you know, you shouldn’t…
KING: They ought to have a test for it.
JOLIE: I mean, yes, you’re saying — and I go through many, many things in order to adopt. I’m fingerprinted, I’m checked, I go through home studies. I go through everything to prove I’m a decent citizen, I’m a good human being.
That doesn’t — that didn’t happen to me when I gave birth. You know? So it’s interesting that there’s no background check on you when you bring a child into your home in that way.
But — but I think, you know, that there’s — it was a country that does not have foreign adoptions usually. And so I think she’s I’m sure smart enough to know that that was going to be unusual.”

I think what Angie and Madonna have done is bring adoption to the fore front. There are too many unwanted children in the world who need a stable home and warrant a great start in life.
As far as I’m concerned, not enough people are doing something about it and should. In my family, we’ve always adopted—my great-grandmother gave birth to twelve children and adopted her thirteenth! And this was in the 1950s.
To address the “team Aniston” and “team Brangelina”—if you look back at any news interviews Brad and Jen had, Brad always wanted to be a dad and Jen kept putting off having a child. Once “Friends” was over, she said they would try for a child then changed her mind because she wanted to pursue a film career. That was on her. If I knew my man wanted to become a father and I made a promise to him after waiting 4 years then changed my mind in lieu of my career (she obviously didn’t need the money), then she put her career (and her fear of gaining weight) over her marriage and left the door open and Brad walked out. It takes two to mess up and end a relationship and I’m disappointed that Jen refuses to acknowledge her role in the destruction of her marriage.
I, for one, admire Brad and Angelina’s decision to continue to adopt and give their children such diverse life experience where they appreciate all races and cultures. I think that’s what makes a well rounded human being.

“Those that live in glass houses should not throw stones” or something similar to that…the main thing is they are both trying to improve the lives of children who would otherwise not have a chance at a good life. However, Angelina should not be so self-righteous about it. And if she is such a control freak, Brad must be one whipped son of a bitch. Run, Brad run!!!
