Brandy was involved in a four-car freeway crash last month in which a
38-year-old woman was killed.
The singer-and-actress was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph on Los
Angeles' 405 Freeway on December 30 when she struck a 2005 Toyota.
The Toyota hit a third car and then the central divide, before colliding
with a fourth car, according to a California Highway Patrol statement.
The driver of the 2005 Toyota, 38-year-old married mother-of-one Awatef
Aboudihaj, was taken to hospital but died the next day from her injuries.
A man driving immediately behind Brandy told gossip website TMZ.com: "She
got upset, talking about how it was all her fault she didn't stop, kept
saying how she hit the lady.
"Brandy walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars,
then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road.
She was obviously disoriented and highly upset."
The witness claimed he tried to calm down the 28-year-old star - full name
Brandy Norwood - and advised her not to keep admitting guilt.
He consoled her by repeating: "It was an accident."
Brandy's publicist, Courtney Barnes, said: "Brandy was involved in a car
accident December 30, 2006, in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She
wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased.
Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time."
Brandy was uninjured and was not arrested. Nor was there evidence of drugs
or alcohol involved.
Police are conducting a mechanical investigation of the vehicles involved in
the crash to determine if there was a malfunction.
Brandy's spokeswoman, Evette Fergerson, said: "Brandy's holding up the best
that she can. It has taken a toll on her."

It’s taken a toll on her??? What about the poor woman who died because Brandy wasn’t paying attention. Why wasn’t she arrest for reckless driving? She rear ended a car that caused the whole mess. Oh well, Hopefully she’ll get her ass sued off in civil court.

I hope Brandy serves some time in jail. It’s only fair.

How do you rearend a car doing 65 on a freeway unless that car was sitting still or you weren’t paying attention? I’m sure there’s more to this than what’s being said right now.
She just “publicly” apologized to the dead woman’s family within the last day or two…Now, that’s really heartfelt and personal.

I was in a similar accident a few years ago. There was construction on the freeway and there was about a quarter mile long line of cars just stopped. I was one of the vehicles stopped. There was a lady behind me who was stopped as well. I was looking in my rear view mirror for no reason really and I see this pickup truck just cruising right along not trying to slow down or stop and a total domino effect happened.
Some people aren’t always paying attention to the road and for some reason they get a driver’s license. I’m sure Brandy is quite distraught over this. A woman died by her actions. She does have my sympathy because stuff like this happens all the time. It wasn’t intentional. She may get charged with vehicular manslaughter. Regular people get about 3 years in prison for it, Brandy will get about 6 months probation, I’m sure.
If it does come out that she was on her cell phone, any sympathy I had for her goes straight out the window.

Wow this is horrible news and i’m not blaming her for not paying attention even though she should have especially on the highway, but everybody makes mistakes and this just happens to be a fatal one. If it was because she was on the phone then you know what, i hope she has to live everyday knowing that because she HAD to talk to somebody she killed an innocent person in the process, lesson learned.
And what it is with people and not paying attention when they use a cell phone. I know that i shouldn’t but i use a cell phone and drive sometimes, eat, drink, drive with my feet(j/k) and i can drive perfect. I guess some people just can’t multitask.

I can only imagine what Brandy is going through. This acciddent will stay on her mind for a long time.
R.I.P Awatef Aboudihaj.
Accidents like thses make you just want to sit back and enjoy life and just tell your family everyday that you love them cause you never know if you’ll come back home.

Stuff like this happens all the time, its unfortunate though for the life that is lost and the family that must bare that loss. I dont think Brandy intentionally hit the woman, she may have suffered some sort of distraction and before you know it..BOOM! its still no excuse BUT it happens and its very unfortunate for all parties involved.
Anyone who has been in an accident wether at fault or not knows that in a spilt of a second ANYTHING can happen. My condolences are with both Families at this time. Its trully sad BUT accidents happen. I am curious to know still what caused Brandy’s distraction….if it is something she could have avoided may she be repremended for it…..

I totally think that it’s Brandy’s fault. I heard that this accident happened months ago and she’s just coming out with a statement now? I think she should be held responsible for this because she should’ve been paying attention.
On a another note, did you guys hear? Jessica Biel and Derek Jeter isn’t together anymore. I guess they came out with a statement today confirming that they are no longer together. She was too hot for him anyways.

ph7, it happened just after Christmas, and I don’t blame her for not coming out with a statement sooner. If you accidentally killed some1 and you were to blame, would you make an announcement or press statement about it before the world knew about it? Doubtful. If you did, you’d be a bigger media/attention whore than Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton combined.

Malice on 01/25 at 09:21 PM
I think what’s important here is that she’s taken responsibility for her actions.
If her name were Parasite Hilton, she’d probably blame Lindsey Lohan while looking over at the body and going “that’s hot”.

I lost my neice on July 10th, 2002 in a terrible car accident. Her and I were both 5 months pregnant with little girls. Our due dates were within a week of one another’s. She was hit and killed by a drunk driver and the guy got a 1200.00 fine and 18 months probabtion. When I hear about someone being killed in a vehicle accident it really hurts my heart. SBSS, I am so sorry for your loss and for your friend’s family’s loss. I am sorry.

Look….....even if you do or dont like Brandy, no one on this comment page knows her as a person, and that goes for any human being. None of us were there for the viewing of the accident, so you all are just going by what is in the press. SHUT UP !!!!, and stop wishing this or that person gets arrested or whatever, cuz no one knows what is really going on except the people that were involved. NONE OF THEM WERE YOU !!!!
PEACE

The fucked up part is that this will be on her conscious for a long time. I hope that she will get through this & hopefully she won’t do a lot of jail time because she has a young daughter
