Viewers weren't the only ones that were disappointed by Britney Spears' big comeback performance at last night's MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.

Following a dismal performance of Spears' new single, "Gimmme More," a source tells Us that Spears was spotted "crying badly [backstage]. She's devastated. She was really nervous and knows she screwed up."

The singer may have had an inkling of what was to come prior to her performance: A VMA insider tells Us that Spears fired her hairstylist right before going on.

Immediately following Spears’ glittery opening performance, comedian Sarah Silverman poked fun at the singer’s early rise to fame. “Was that incredible?" she asked the crowd. "She is amazing. I mean, she is 25 years old and she’s already accomplished everything she’s going to accomplish in her life.”

She continued: “It’s weird to think that just a few years ago on this very show, she was this, like, sweet innocent little girl in slutty clothes writhing around with a python. That’s not nice…calling Madonna a python.”

“Have you seen Britney’s kids? Oh my god, they are the most adorable mistakes you will ever see!” Silverman trilled. “They are as cute as the hairless vagina they came out of.”

Crying won’t get you nowhere brit, not in this time of life. And i know politically incorrect jokes are the thing now but that brit and vagina joke was gross and not funny. I didn’t see the VMA but it seems like i didn’t miss much either. If it comes on again i might see it but i saw the performance on here so what’s the point?

I “LOVE” Sara Silverman. She is so gangter. Completely delivered the absolute best “roasting” of Brits performance. I was at the bar watching the NFL game with the guys and we just happned to flip the channel in time to catch Brits opening performance. OH MY GOD we comepletely lost it. I was laughing so hard my eyes teard and gut hurt. It was surreal and plain “odd”. Her first two stumbles were PRICELESS. My Favorite part is when the camera paned to 50 and the look on his face was so dumbfounded. It was like he was watching a retard giving a donkeyshow on stage. I think she is finally reaping the seeds that she has sewen.

Please. The only reason anyone tuned in was to see if britney did anything crazy. No one gives two shits about the barely mediocre so called ‘artists’ on that pathetic show.

I thought the comments were a bit funny at first, but I will admit that they are going beyond tasteless. I feel a bit bad for Britney now. But why do these award shows have people like Silverman on them? To get ratings and to get people to talk about the show. And it obviously works.

I just never thought that mtv would allow her to step on stage and do that!!!!

Ms.Sleepy i don’t think we should be shocked either but i think it’s the fact that she started to lose weight, started dancing, and some of us thought that maybe she would try to make a decent comeback. I actually had a vision that she would give a great performance but damn was i wrong, that’s where the shock comes from.

If I were Britney and I had known beforehand, as she is said to have, that she was gonna get to my kids, I swear to God I would have looked her straight in the eyes and told that I would be watching every single word coming out of her moouth and if she uttered anything about them to make sure she had an ambulance ready cuz she might not make it long without life support!!!

Making fun of Brit might be fun, but to get her kids are off limit!!!

As far as Sarah Silverman is concerned, I do not think she’s funny at all. She’s crass and tasteless and should really put a sock in it (and you guys know that I’m the first to criticize Britney).

I didn’t laugh at Sarah’s “jokes” about Brit I just really didn’t think they were funny, and I ussually Love Sarah’s jokes. I’m not a Brit’s fan and never have been, but I wish her the best. She looked soooooo nerviouse, during her performance that it took the best of her.

Sarah’s funny in a crass way, but her Jesus Is Magic thing was just ok, only when she was singing. Her schtick gets old fast.
