Britney Spears turned up around 7PM Friday to Esther's Haircutting Studio in Tarzana. Though the shop was closed, owner Esther Tognozzi opened the salon for the singer.

Tognozzi told Access Hollywood that Spears asked to have her head shaved, but the shop owner refused telling Spears, "I won't touch that."

Britney then asked if she could cut her own hair. She was provided tools to do so by the salon.

The singer first shortened her hair with scissors before buzzing it off with electric shears. Tognozzi had to help Spears following the singer's attempt at shearing her head, to even out Britney's scalp.

According to Tognozzi, Britney did not speak much, exchanging just a few words about her baby with the shop owner. She also noted Britney said "mom's gonna kill me."

A source from the salon confirmed to Access Hollywood earlier today that they are planning to sell Spears' lost locks on eBay.

They will donate a portion of the hair collected from the crop to the Britney Spears Foundation, which was the salon's own idea.

Esther Tognozzi was already locking up her tiny hair salon when her celebrity customer arrived Friday night. Here, in her words, is what happened:

"All of a sudden, somebody was knocking on the front door. ... Britney was standing there with two bodyguards, and one of them was saying Britney Spears wants to come in.

"She came in and said, 'I want my hair shaved off.'"



I said, 'I'm not going to do that.' I didn't want to be sued; I didn't want her agent calling me and saying, 'You ruined her hair.'

"Her bodyguard was saying, 'It's her body, she can do what she wants,' but I wouldn't do it.

"She grabbed the clipper I usually use to trim neck hair and sideburns, and she started to shave herself.



"She was okay. She was kind of flat, just there in body but not emotionally. She finished, and it was kind of messy, so I cleaned it up for her.

"The only time she did get emotional was when she said, 'My mom's going to get upset.' And then she kind of teared up.

"Then, when she finished, she looked at herself and said, 'Oh, my God, my hair's gone. I just shaved my hair off.' I said, 'It's only hair, it'll grow back.'

"I think the extensions in her hair were too tight, and she wanted to take them off. We've kept the hair; it's in a safe place. I was thinking if she wanted to auction it for one of her charities, we could give it back to her.

"Her bodyguards offered to pay, but I said I can't charge her for something I didn't do. They did leave a tip."

scooper…i believe federal child education and labor laws say that a child cannot legally leave school, either home or public, before age 15 or 16. it’s common for minors in hollywood and entertainment in general to receive schooling on set until they reach the age when they can choose to drop out. Britney chose to drop out as soon as she could legally, and it shows.

there are tons of other child celebs that continued their education while in show business. Blosson from the 90s and Winne for The Wonder Years both went on to college and grad school and got PhD in neuroscience (Blossom) and Mathematics (Winnie). Natalie Portman and the brunette girl from Roseanne went to Harvard or some other ivy league school. even the olsen twins who have been in showbiz since birth, literally, went to college for at least a year or 2.

britney’s education, emotional, and mental growth halted with Hiot My Baby One More Time. her mother was more interested in raising a cash cow than an emotionally healthy and educated daughter…now Britney is a 25 yo with 2 children and the emotionl and mental resources of an 8th grade girl.
