The 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' singer, famed for high-pitched voice, was spotted sucking the voice-distorting gas out of balloons back stage at the Hetrick-Martin Institute benefit gala, in New York, last week.
A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Cyndi sucked the gas out of two helium balloons before going on stage to belt out 'Time After Time' and some of her other hits."

The 54-year-old singer also managed to upset her teenage backing singers at the charity concert - which raised money for the Harvey Milk High School for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) youths - when she introduced them to the audience as her "transgender choir".
One of the young singers fumed: "She keeps calling us transgender! We're not f***ing trannies!"
The Scissor Sisters also performed at the Institute's gala dinner.
omg i cannot believe i saw this article! it’s true my friend and i went to see her perform on the carson daly show a couple of years ago - and in between takes she did suck out of a red balloon. my friend and it thought it was the most hilarious thing - im glad someone shed some light on this!

she is not sucking helium out of the balloons, it’s a breathing exercise to check her lung capacity. I’ve seen her do this in concert when she had a cold. She does this to measure her ability to hold out long notes. And anyone who has ever sucked in helium knows the effects wear out after a few seconds, so sucking any in before a concert would not help her hit higher notes.

And of course the back-up singers are upset. They are gay teenage backup singers. OF COURSE they are upset. Bitches think their talentless asses should be up front.

Looks like she has had plenty of plastic surgery on her face, and forgot her neck! Man she is looking like a Senior Citizen! Honey get to a surgeon quick and get that neck tightened up! Gobble, Gobble! Turkey neck!

Lauper uses a balloon in order to excersize her vocal cords.
As for plastic surgery she has had none.
