Oscar winning actress Hilary Swank is extremely careful with money - every last cent.

The 'Million Dollar Baby' star recently went CD shopping in a Los Angeles music store and while she happily handed over her gift vouchers, she was determined to get her money's worth.



A source told tmz.com: "Hilary was very excited when it came time to pay because she had a gift certificate for $100.

"She had only spent $99.58 so the cashier rang up her purchases and then gave her a gift certificate for 42 cents. Hilary asked if she could have the change in actual coins instead.

"The manager had to be called to reopen the cash register, holding up the queue, and Hilary kept complaining about the inconvenience having to wait was causing her.

"But she still hung on for her 42 cents."

Well ii don’t think using a certificate is being cheap but complaining about having to wait when you’re the reason why you are waiting in the first place is crazy. Now everybody should know that when you use a giftcard or certificate the remaining balance it going to stay on the card and you won’t get actual money instead. How dumb of her to wait until the register is closed. That’s like those people who pay at registers and they give you $20.00 when the total was $10.69…they wait until you give them the change back then they say “oh, i have the 69 cents!!!””

At $20 mill a picture and two Oscars she should have given the 42 cents back in the need a penny, take a penny dish. 

And by the way, her new boyfriend is one ugly mother.

I know AgentHollywood, I was a cashier for a little while and I absolutely HATED it when people did that! It’s like, IDIOT! When I’m the customer I tell the cashier BEFORE they enter the cash amount “I might have the change”. Some people piss me off.

Hilary kinda sounds like a pain in the ass…I’m not a fan. She TOTALLY needs a boulder holder for those friggin things, my god. I’m a b cup and I don’t walk around braless. Too much play. What if you have to run? I personally find it painful if they bounce too much…

If i were her, i would of handed the .42 cents over to another costumer for them to use it for their purchase. Give me a break swank.

It makes you one stingy, cheap and pathetic b*tch when you pay with gift certificates and wait for the .42 friggin cents change! She has so much friggin money. She just went down several notches, in my opinion. I would not even do that and I am uh, well, let’s just say frugal. What a diva wannabe she has become.

Uhhh, I don’t know where you people are from, but when a small amount of money like under a dollar is left on my gift card, the cashier always gives it to me in change.. i don’t have to ask.  I mean, what is one going to buy at a music store with 42 cents?

for one, this can’t be hollywood news…two, I’m poor and even I wouldn’t bother with 42 cents. To tell you the truth, if I were as rich as these retards, I’d probably feel like a cheap ass using the g/c in the first place, let alone demand my change back. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d probably hand it over to some kid and make their day. But then again, I’m a damn sweetheart, I’d never make it in Hollywood I suppose…sigh.
