According to several sources backstage at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards — and a report published late Sunday night by The Associated Press — West lost it again, this time because his performance of "Stronger" took place in the Palms' Hugh Hefner Sky Villa and not on the main stage, unlike Britney's disastrous opening act.

"Kanye was watching the closing performance [a medley featuring Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nelly Furtado] on a closed-circuit monitor, and he started getting upset," a source who was backstage told MTV News. "He started asking anyone who'd listen why he wasn't allowed to perform on the main stage. 'Why did I perform in just a suite?' he was saying. 'Justin's my boy, but even he gets to perform in both a suite and on the main stage? Something's wrong here.' "

According to the AP, West was also upset about being shut out of all five categories in which he was nominated. He reportedly yelled, "That's two years in a row, man ... I'm trying hard, man, I have the ... #1 record, man."

AP also reported that West claimed he would "never return to MTV."

At a pre-VMA concert on Friday, West also expressed his frustration that Britney Spears would be opening the show instead of him, freestyling, "I can't believe she would perform. She hasn't had a hit record in years". And according to MTV News' source, he was claiming the same thing during his tirade.

"He said, 'Brit hasn't had a hit in like 5 million years and she opens the show?!?' " the source said.



Meanwhile Rihanna had a great night. The young singer won video of the year and monster single for 'Umbrella'.

although I agree with him about Britney opening the show, Kanye needs to STFU.

why is he whining that shitney opened the show? Why should he care? If he was all that talented or substantial he would be confident enough to deal with it and not whine so shamelessly about it. He looks like a cranky dinosaur in that top pic by the way. He is just another jester who thinks way too much of himself.

citizen…i hate to be expose myself for the dorky hair band fan i was in high school but Motely Crue was one of the bigest bands in the 80s and had a lot more than just one hit. just to name the majors: Home Sweet Home, Dr. Feelgood, Kickstart my Heart, Girls Girls Girls, Smokin in the Boys Room, Same Ol’ Situation, Shout at the Devil, Wild Side, Without You, Don’t go Away Mad (Just go Away). Those were all pretty big hits on Billboard and they sold millions and millions of records in the 80s and early 90s before grunge came along and stomped hair bands into oblivion.

yeh, they have had a hit in almost 15 years since the Dr. Feelgood album, but they def. sold more than Kid Rock and Tommy is still alll up in the press after all these years, good or bad. he’s managed to stay relevant. shit i even bought his Methods of Mayhem solo project album from the late 90s which is half good and half shitty, but the half good part is pretty badass (Get Naked was pretty awesome, esp. the video which was yup naked!)

personally, i go for Team Tommy just b/c of the porn tape, the i don’t give a fuck attitude, and he’s hotter than Kid Rock who needs to take his beer belly back to the trailer park LOL!
