LEANN RIMES' lawyers have fired off a cease-and-desist letter to her boyfriend EDDIE CIBRIAN's estranged wife, banning her from criticizing the country star in the press.

The singer/actress met and fell in love with Cibrian on the set of TV movie Northern Lights last year and their romance hit the headlines when they were caught kissing on camera - while they were still married to their respective spouses.

Rimes subsequently split from her husband Dean Sheremet and Cibrian is currently locked in a bitter divorce battle with his ex, Brandi Glanville.

The stars have since gone public with their relationship but Rimes is still angry with Glanville for airing her grievances in the media during the controversy.

Rimes reportedly ordered her legal team to issue the cease-and-desist notice on Thursday (27May2010), accusing Glanville of slander, according to E! News.

Glanville is required to respond to the legal note within five days - otherwise Rimes will reportedly file suit against her former love rival, asking a court to grant a gagging order.
