The baby boy Madonna was hoping to adopt has left Malawi on a private jet.

The 'Hung Up' singer's bodyguard was seen carrying the 13-month-old boy, called David Banda, onto a plane reportedly headed for Johannesburg today (10.16.06).

Malawi's Human Rights Consultative Committee had tried to block the adoption plans earlier today, claiming the singer had not adhered to the country's strict inter-country adoption laws.

However, it has been reported that the custody process could have been fast-tracked for the wealthy celebrity allowing her to side-step strict regulations.

Sources believe Madonna may have used the flexible American legal system to allow her to adopt the boy.

Malawian law prohibits adoptions by non-residents, but officials have granted an exemption for the 48-year-old pop superstar.

Boniface Mandere - a spokesman for Eye of the Child, a leading children's rights group in Malawi - fumed: "The government haven't followed the law. What has happened is a shortcut."

Last week, Malawi's High Court granted Madonna and her husband, director Guy Ritchie, an interim order allowing them to take custody of the child.

However, Madonna and Guy were forced to leave the Southern African country last Friday (10.13.06) without David, who did not have a passport.

David's mother, Marita, died a month after the child was born. Since then he had been living in the Home of Hope Orphan Care Centre in Mchinji, a village close to the borders with Zambia.

Guess she was busy doing something else much more important so the bodyguard had to go get her new child.  Years down the road I don’t think it will matter to little David that he rode to his new home in a private jet, just that his new celebrity mother was too damn lazy to go pick him up herself.  What a crock.

I agree with you Angelia123, LRM216 and vtgal. These good deeds seem to be publicity attempts and it really pisses me off. ( I don’t KNOW that of course, but this poor kid doesn’t seem to be priority one here…)Why can’t they do unpublicized good deeds? If someone finds out about it and prints it, whatever. But it seems like they call every paper in the US “look at me! I’m adopting a child! Ain’t I just a fantastic person? Cough* BUY MY CD* Cough”

While there is no doubt that this little boy will have a very charmed life it is a shame that she has PROBABLY done this for the publicity. Yes, even Guy said that himself. Everything she has ever done has been about shock and publicity. I just hope that this child is loved no matter what her reasons are.

Madonna is a shameless pig! Such a freaking hypocrite….what astonishes me is that nobody ever questions these assholes about what they preach and then how they act. This little boy will have a “charmed life” no doubt; but if she really cared about this boy’s plight, she would have also adopted his father too, who, BTW, will probably die in a couple of years. She could have sponsored this family directly for life with the money that she used to bribe the gov’t . But no she needs to have an African child; almost like a trophy to show around the world. PIG! PIG! PIG! She took this boy from his father and in the process destroyed any ties that he will have with his ethnicity and culture. Madonna will give him to the nannies raise him in her fucked up culture and with her fucked up values.

Ok it looks kind of funny with her having a black child strapped to her back like it’s a new purse. Nothing wrong with the color issue, but it seems that it’s the new thing now….adopt a pet.
