UPDATE: Marilyn has been challanged!
Jackie Bibby - known worldwide as 'The Texas Snakeman' - holds the current record of 87 snakes and, upon learning of Manson's plans, has thrown down the gauntlet to the singer.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I think it's really interesting that Mr. Manson wants to break my record. I say, bring it on! Why not challenge me in person? There are only two clear bathtubs out there that can be used for an official world record attempt.
"I have one of the tubs and a production company in Los Angeles has the other one, so I'd love to have a challenge with Mr. Manson and get a TV station to broadcast it. That would be amazing!"
Father-of-two Jackie has also warned Manson he better be prepared before he lets the deadly serpents slither all over him.
He said: "I warn anyone who wants to make an attempt they had better get me or some other very reputable snake handler involved in the stunt. Otherwise they could be in big trouble!"
Marilyn Manson wants to break the world record for sharing a bath with snakes.
The controversial rocker - who is famous for his peculiar obsessions with death and taxidermy - wants to beat the 'Texas Snakeman' Jackie Bibby, who currently holds the world record by bathing with 87 rattlesnakes for 45 minutes.
A source close to the singer said: "Marilyn is desperate to get into the famous book, and wants to do it for something people will associate him with.
"He thought about all the wacky records he could try and break, and came across Jackie Bibby's record. That's when he decided he wanted to try and break it."
Father-of-two Jackie - who holds four world records including holding eight rattlesnakes in his mouth by their tails - has perfected the art of bathing with the venomous creatures.
He said: "They can go wherever they want as long as they don't start biting. The key to not biting is for me to stay still.
"Rapid movement scares a rattlesnake. If you move real slow and gentle, that doesn't seem to bother them."
Meanwhile Manson has been accused of using his band's earnings to pay his lover the "highest salary ever" for an actress appearing in a music video.
Former Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids keyboardist, Stephen Bier, claims Manson gave his lover Evan Rachel Wood the "highest salary ever paid to any actress in any music video in history" for starring in his 'Heart Shaped Glasses' music promo.
Bier's lawyer Keith Fink filed the complaint at Los Angeles' Superior Court on November 21st.
In addition, Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, allegedly paid tour crew massive amounts to transport his unique 'Alice in Wonderland' books, because he is so obsessed with author Lewis Carroll.
The 38-year-old rocker will star as Carroll in his own film version of the children's novels, 'Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll', which he is also writing and directing.
In August, Manson's bandmates accused him of spending the band's earnings on "sick and disturbing purchases".
Among the items were African masks made of human skin, a skeleton of a disabled man in a wheelchair, and the skeleton of a four-year-old Chinese girl which he turned into a chandelier - all of which are illegal in America.
