Mel Gibson gets drunk with the gals at Moonshadows restaurant in Malibu before getting arrested for drunk driving.

Mel Gibson has begged the Jewish community for help after making
anti-Semitic remarks during a drunken rant.
The 'Mad Max' actor - who has checked into rehab after being arrested on
suspicion of drink driving in Malibu on Friday (07.28.06) - wants to meet
with Jewish leaders to discuss how he can atone for the incident.
Gibson said in a statement: "I'm not just asking for forgiveness. I would
like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish
community, with whom I can have a one-on-one discussion, to discern the
appropriate path for healing.
"There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who
thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize
specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and
harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was
arrested on a DUI charge.
"Please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot.
Hatred of any kind goes against my faith."
Some Jewish leaders have praised the 50-year-old actor's plea for help.
Rabbi Mark S. Diamond, of the 280-member Board of Rabbis of Southern
California, said: "I welcome his words, and I hope and pray that they are
sincere and heartfelt."
This is is what happens when you drink too much. You end up saying and doing stupid stuff you can't take back.

A mini-series about the Holocaust being developed by Mel Gibson's production
company has been cancelled.
The announcement comes just days after the shamed 'Lethal Weapon' star
reportedly launched into an anti-Jewish tirade after being arrested in
Malibu, California, on suspicion of drink driving.
ABC confirmed in a statement: "It has been nearly two years and we have yet
to see the first draft of a script.
"We have decided to no longer pursue this project with Icon."
Mel - whose 2004 movie 'The Passion of the Christ' was accused of being
anti-Semitic - has now checked into rehab in a fresh attempt to win his
battle against alcoholism.
The actor's spokesman, Alan Neirob, has confirmed Mel is in rehab, saying:
"He has definitely entered a program."
However, Neirob refused to say where the rehab facility is or how long the
actor will remain there.

He looks so old and gross. Blech! I don’t care if he is Mel Gibson, I wouldn’t hang out with him.

Ya know, I don’t like what he said at all and he was way out of line to say and do anything he did regardless if he believes it or not, but I think about how some celebrities have been busted for drugs, gone to prison, hurt other people physically, murdered, been accused of rape, etc. and were accepted right back into the celeb bullshit scene so I don’t understand why so much is being made out of what he said and why it’s going on and on.

I think it’s b/c after he made the Christ movie, he became a very well respected christian & not just b/c of the film, but also b/c of his intelligent & respectfull statements in interviews regarding “Passion of the Christ”.
If you take Mike Tyson for example, he was a brutal boxer, so it wasn’t that shocking that he’s convicted with rape, plus he had to go to jail, so he didn’t get away with it. PPl think: well he got the right punishment, isn’t it?
If you look at O.J. Simpson - who got away with murder - a lot of ppl still thislike him, b/c he wasn’t punished for what we think he did. He just got away with this horrible crime b/c he’s a celebrity!
I think if Mel will get the punishment he deserves for drunk driving & not obeying to the cops, ppl won’t be that hard on him anymore. But will the Jews ever forgive him? I know i would, but would you if you’re a Jew?

The state of Israel is killing innocent people in Lebanon (vice versa the hissbollha as well of course) and what do the Americans: They get upset about a drunken man. they found someone who’s guilty and now the consience is salved and the killers can keep on doing their business. LOL wake up Americans

I love how Mely boy is trying to back-peddle and slick over his drunken snafu. It’s quite entertaining in a way and sort of sad on the other hand.

I’m just curious, has he ever apologized to his family for the disgrace he has brought them? Admittedly, I have not read all there is to read about it, but I don’t recall him saying to his wife and children that he is sorry he has put them in this position. I think most people already knew he was anti semitic. I’m not at all surprised at what he said. I don’t care about him one way or the other. He has no real influence on society, but I do feel sorry for his wife and children.

Please, xnhop, Mel Gibson is not some ruse to take away from the gravity of events in Lebanon or Iraq or Israel. That’s quite a stretch there.

I agree with Pache, femme-fatale, & xnhop. I think people are making a big deal out of what he said or did.

We seem to me to be taking the whole thing to lightly. If I were a hetrosexual calling a bunch of homosexuals names in a drunking tirade it would get attention from every gay organization in America. They say you don’t tell tales when you are drunk I believe we have seen the real side of Mr. Gibson. I think any descent human being should boycott anything he does from hear on.
