Country singer Mindy McCready confirmed a ten year affair with embattled pitcher Roger Clemens.
"I cannot refute anything in the story," a tearful but resolute McCready told the Daily News, which broke the story at midnight Sunday.
The News reported that the two met in a Florida karaoke bar when McCready was a 15-year-old aspiring singer and Clemens was a 28-year-old ace for the Red Sox and a married father of two.
"Yes, I have known Roger Clemens for a long time," McCready said, reading from a prepared statement. "He's a kind and caring man. He's also a legendary athlete. The central topic in the debate, however, regards his professional life, not his personal life.
"There are legal matters working their way through the system that have nothing to do with me. From my point of view, that is where the focus should remain."
After the teenage McCready met Clemens at a Fort Myers bar called The Hired Hand, she returned with the Rocket to his hotel room, but there was no sex that night, sources told The News.
It wasn't until later, after McCready had moved to Nashville and become a country singing star, that the relationship turned intimate.

Contacted by the Daily News Sunday through his lawyer Rusty Hardin, Clemens confirmed a long-term relationship but denied that it was of a sexual nature.
"He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Hardin said. "He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her."
Hardin said the Rocket's wife, Debbie, knew McCready and that the singer had traveled on his plane.
Hmm, honestly why would a 28 year old married man with kids want to have a relationship with a 15 year old? So she went to his hotel room, but there was no sex. The question is did they have sex at least once over that 10 year period? YEA!!!!!

I highly doubt that Clemens’ wife was *** unaware *** that he had affairs. I am sure he had many of them, and I highly doubt that this girl was the only teenager he was screwing. I think it is unfair to suggest these women are all just marrying these assholes for the money alone. There might be some truth in women who accept their men having affairs. Who knows some wifes do the same. Men aren’t the only ones who are dogs.
If being a superstar athlete’s wife was really such a painful and hard life, they can leave their easy mealtickets behind, have some self-respect, be a good example for your children, and WALK with some DIGNITY.
These lifestyle women keep having kids not because they are so in love with these cheating men, it’s because they get more money and more financial security for each kid they produce. They also get more assurance that the husband won’t divorce them because the longer they keep having kids and stay married, the more money she will get if he dares to divorce her.
Same reason why Kobe Bryant’s wife didn’t divorce him after he screwed that hotel worker. Vanessa would have gone back to being a nobody. What did she do? She overlooked the public affair and got pregnant again QUICK. She has to make sure that she has more financial security, since her boat had been rocked, in a big way.

If you love your children and yourself, you live in a way to show that you respect yourself. These women don’t deserve everyone’s pity. They are where they are for the love of money.
