On Wednesday, an attorney for the WWE told the Associated Press Benoit and his wife had argued over the care for their son, who the WWE says suffered from a rare disorder.
According to WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt, Daniel Benoit had Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic condition often associated with cognitive disabilities and autism.
"It's fair to say that the subject of caring for that child was part of what made their relationship complicated and difficult, and it's something they were both constantly struggling with," McDevitt told the AP. "We do know it was a source of stress and consternation."

Nancy Benoit, 43, didn't want her husband, 40, to quit wrestling, McDevitt said, but she "wanted him to be at home more to care for the kid. She'd say she can't take care of him by herself when he was on the road." Daniel had recently finished kindergarten, and friends and relatives said his parents were struggling with where to send Daniel to school, he added.
Fayette Co. District Attorney Scott Ballard earlier told PEOPLE that Daniel was "somewhat significantly undersized" and needle marks in his arm suggested he may have been receiving injections of a growth hormone.
Anabolic steroids, for which Benoit had prescriptions, were found in the home, leading to speculation that "'roid rage" may have had a role in the slayings, although WWE said in a statement Tuesday that Benoit tested negative on April 10, the last time he was tested for drugs, and that the evidence indicates "deliberation, not rage."

The FBI has raided the doctor's office of the wrestler that killed his family

Having a child that has significant mental problems I know first hand it’s hard to deal with, but you don’t kill them! You love them the same as you do your other kids, just give them that little bit of special attention they so need and deserve. This story sickens me. I don’t think it was roid rage, I think in his case it was shame if nothing else. People like him that think they’re perfect want perfect kids and will dammed if they’ll settle for what they consider less than perfect. I hope he’s already burning in hell.

Just an FYI for WWE: My cousin has an autistic teenager, and although it has been a challenge for the family, as yet neither parent has taken the murder-suicide track.
So, no—I ain’t buying your silly spin-control press release BS which is a painfully obvious effort to minimize bad press regarding the steroid freaks that make up your stable of “athletes.”.

Damn, this story is more tragic by the day. I don’t understand why he had to kill his child, & not only that, he has a genetic disorder. I am not a mother yet, but I will love my child unconditionally whether he or she is healthy or not. It is a damn shame. And to think, the WWE gave a freaking 3 hour tribute to the man, my husband saw it the other night. But yeah, Theob, I agree with you, there should be a reserve spot in hell for him

Hey guys. I didn’t comment because I dont know who these ppl are and could not care less. I hate wwe, wwf, and anything like it. full of fake oversized ugly ass losers, and trash. But here is a break down of what I see:
All I saw mentioned was the child was “under sized” What is ‘under sized’ in their warped ideas? I know personally many people who have serious issues with kids, and work with severely mentally challenged people of all ages. They do it with love, strength and happiness. Guess these overdrugged losers couldn’t find the strength or common decency to find soemone to care for the child so they could go kill themselves and each other and leave him to live.
The only one here who deserves condolence is the kid who didn’t get the chance he deserved to live life and be free of the losers that were unfortunately his ‘parents’. Fuck them. Rot in Hell, losers.

He might have been larger than life in physical form, but in reality it takes a really small man to take his family down with him.

I don’t know, toonces. Maybe they’re trying to “time and control out” his remaining runs.
I wish he’d get hurt and go disabled the rest of the season. The racist, arrogant pig is not worthy.
Steww, thank you. I’d not commented on that story yet, and it would probably take a master psychiatrist to begin to rationalize it, but that pretty much sums up my opinion, for what it’s worth.

It completely breaks my heart when i think about how that poor childs life was taken only because his father wasn’t all right in the head.
Its truly sickening how he couldn’t accept his own son for the way he was. Truly special. No words can express how i feel about the whhole case. It’s cruel and just heart breaking.

I think it is truly a sad and horrible situation what has happened but I think what is bad alos is the conclusions that people are jumping to. They say the little boy was small for his age. His mother was not a big woman and Benoit himself was only 5’10 which is a shorty in the world of wrestling and if anybody has ever seen the man he had very short arms, short legs and a long torso. The little boy may have not been small for his age but small b/c of genetics.
I think there is no good excuse but I do think all the speculations and jumping to he was injecting the little boy and he was ashamed of him those are just peoples opinions. Until they come out with facts of members of their families say these things to be true I for one am not going to open my mouth and insert my foot. Who is to say that the child was the cause of his snap. That is a horrible judgement to make. The man could have (as speculated by doctors) been taking steroid and had to back off for a drug test and then mixed them with other medications which could cause paranoia, depression and anger. The words “he could be hearing someone telling him to kill his family” were used.
So lets not jump to conclusions just yet. Wait for the facts. These are all assumptions.
God rest little Daniels soul. He was taken too soon.

lilfel…there were injection marks on the little boy. that was reported as fact by investigators I believe. Any way you slice it it was wrong and terrible and a crime against humanity to kill the child. the child did not kill himself. I don’t give a shit if the family or anyone else comes whining about the “father”‘s illnesses, problems, drug habits, or hearing voices. Does Andrea Yates ring a bell? right. Didn’t care about her excuses for mass murdering her five kids in cold blood and I don’t care about these assholes’ excuses either. God bless the kid. Satan, have your way with the so called ‘parents’.

And did the wife know that her child was being injected with substances? This is sad no matter what poor child and poor woman because she didn’t deserved to be murdered either.

she was allegedly the full tiem caretaker of the child right? How would she not see needle marks on her child or know if her ‘husband’ was being abusive to the child? Sorry. The bitch was in the wrong here too. It is just a travesty all around for that child.

They say some doctors actually prescribed GH for children with Fragile X so this could be part of the reason they raided the doctors office, and if that’s the case, then his mom probably thought she was helping him and knew about the injections. This man seemed to be ashamed that his son would need Special Ed since hen ever told even his closest friends about the problems, and he was obviously so self-involved that he’d rather kill everyone than have them know he had a child with a God given problem. What a loser. Hey, at least we all know he’s burning in hell.

puh. That “mom” kn ew exactly what kind of freak she ‘married’ in chris. I have read things about these losers to try to get some background before commenting. The bitch knew he was all sorts of crazy, abusive and a dick. She had a restraining order omn him at one point and was going to divorce hiom for ‘cruel and unusual” abuse, etc. I am not buying the poor little wife/woman shit. She knew and she still had the kid with him and she still stayed with him and put the kid in harm’s way. she can rot in hell right along with the bastard she married.

Contessa…I am in no way saying that the man had an excuse for what he did. Wrong is wrong the child is gone and should not have been. I’m not asking to wait for excuses. I’m just pointing out that people are making their on assumptions to be facts. I am in no way excusing the man for what he did…helllll no. I just don’t think that people should take their speculations and make them into facts. Their were injections marks in the childs arms so this automatically means that he was ashamed of his child and injecting him with steroids? Assumption not fact. Who is to say that he did not try to inject the child with things to kill him not to make him “big and strong” like his dad. That is all i am saying. Not excusing anything. I just think people take their assumptions and assume them to be true and then it turns around gets repeated and all of the sudden it is a fact. I just like to wait for facts and not run with others assumptions. Sorry if you misunderstood my point i did not want anyone to think i was excusing the man. He murdered his wife and child. There is no excuse.

oh. i never said he injected him to make him big and strong or that he was ahsamed, etc. like you said that bastard killed his kid and his wife. both the bastard and the ‘wife’ should rot in hell imo
