The controversial rocker lent his name and artwork to Swiss distillery Matter-Luginbuhl AG's absinthe line Mansinthe, but the alcoholic beverage has been slammed by a panel of experts reviewing it for food and drink website epicurious.com.
One reviewer wrote: "The number one problem was the aroma, which some verbally compared to sewage water or swamp mud."
While another added: "If a smell could speak, this absinthe is saying, 'Do not touch.' "
Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, decided to produce absinthe - which has a proof of 66.6 per cent and is illegal in the US - because he has been drinking it for years.
His ex-wife, burlesque model Dita Von Teese, recalls the potent green drink helped her "lose her inhibitions" on her first date with the 'Eat Me, Drink Me' singer.
She said: "I brought a bottle of absinthe on our first date. One minute we were just friends and the next we were on the floor. It's amazing how it makes you lose all your inhibitions."
