Gillian Anderson - who was eventually cast as paranormal FBI investigator
Agent Scully in the hit US TV show - admits bosses approached former
'Baywatch' actress Pamela before they offered her the role.
She said: "Pamela was somebody who was more familiar to them in terms of
what was on TV at the time.
"They were looking for someone bustier, taller, leggier than me. They
couldn't fathom how David and me could equal success. At the beginning,
nobody trusted that I could do anything. I had no body of work behind me at
all, and, certainly Fox felt very strongly that I wasn't the right person
for the job."

Gillian also revealed since starring as Scully in the show and two spin-off
movies, including the most recent - 'The X-Files: I Want to Believe' - she
will forever be associated with that character.
She added: "I think it's difficult for people to think of me as anyone other
than Scully. Even if they have seen me do an Irish accent in 'The Mighty
Celt' or seen me doing 'Bleak House' on the BBC or whatever, people still
have a hard time knowing exactly where I fit into the bigger scheme of
film-making."
