Comedian
Paul Reubens is terrified about reviving his zany character
Pee-Wee Herman for a new stage show, fearing he is no longer "
relevant" to modern audiences. The wacky actor is preparing to step back into the spotlight by staging the Pee-wee Herman Show at Los Angeles' Music Box theater in Los Angeles from January - 19 years after he retired his alter ego. But he admits he's confronted by his own doubts every day as the project debut draws nearer, telling Details magazine, "
I am constantly hoping that I'm still relevant at all... What I'm trying to prove now is that I still have it, I'm still around - I still am Pee-wee Herman, and Pee-wee Herman is still funny." And Reubens insists he's entirely devoted to making the show a success, adding, "
I have no life outside of writing my show right now."
