Sarah Jessica Parker insists she's not a fashion icon.

The former 'Sex and the City' star is considered by many women to be a leading figure when it comes to designer outfits, but while she is flattered, the 47-year-old star isn't comfortable with the title.

She told People.com: "It's not an identity that I connect to. I'm grateful if anyone says anything kind, and if they say something less kind, I take that as a part of anyone talking about you at all.



"It's not how I think of myself and I think it's probably the healthier approach."

Sarah added she feels blessed to be able to borrow and wear many of the outfits she does, and be a part of the fashion world.

She said: "I love beautiful things and I'm privileged to borrow a beautiful dress. I feel really lucky and I genuinely enjoy it. I feel like [fashion] has a proper place in my life."

Jessica - who has children James, 10, and three-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion with husband Matthew Broderick - also said the practical aspects of being a mother don't always leave her time to spend on making herself look fabulous.

She said: "It's just not a reality - not when you have three kids and you go to the market and there are hungry people at home. You have a limited time to do it. There's just no time to let vanity enter into that."
